Floating goods are put into Tet gift baskets in Gia Lai

Gia Lai - Floating goods, confectionery, dried beef... are packaged into Tet gift baskets for business and trading, causing harm to consumer health.

On January 31, Gia Lai Provincial Market Management Department said that the unit had just handled many violations related to food business activities; in which the form of displaying and packaging Tet gift baskets from violating products stood out.

Specifically, on January 4, 2026, functional agencies inspected a business household in Dien Hong ward, Gia Lai province. At the time of inspection, the business household was displaying and selling many food items and organizing the packaging into gift baskets to serve the Lunar New Year.

The inspection results determined that business households had violations of goods labels; trading in smuggled goods; trading in goods of unknown origin and without a license as prescribed.

Gia Lai Provincial Market Management Department has submitted to the Provincial People's Committee to issue a decision to sanction administrative violations with a fine of 145,982,000 VND, and at the same time confiscate all violating food.

On January 5, functional agencies inspected a business establishment in Bien Ho commune, Gia Lai province. The inspection results showed that the establishment was selling products such as dried buffalo slices, dried beef noodles and cakes of unknown origin.

Gia Lai Provincial Market Management Department issued a decision to sanction administrative violations with a total amount of 153,502,160 VND and confiscate violating goods worth 38,300,000 VND.

On January 13, Market Management Team No. 12 inspected a company in Dien Hong ward, Gia Lai province. Through inspection, the inspection team discovered many types of cakes such as Europe Choice Cookies, Chocolate Flavour Cookies, Caramel, Giliian, Truffle... originating from China, but the company could not present invoices and documents proving the legality of goods as prescribed.

These goods were used by the company to package into Tet gift baskets to put on the market for consumption. Gia Lai Provincial Market Management Department has submitted to the Director of the Department of Industry and Trade to issue a decision to sanction administrative violations with a fine of 100 million VND and confiscate violating goods worth 64,910,000 VND.

Gia Lai Provincial Market Management Department warns that the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026 is approaching, and the demand for buying food, confectionery and gifts from people is increasing.

Taking advantage of this situation, some organizations and individuals have used food of unknown origin and source, smuggled goods to package into Tet gift baskets and put them on the market for consumption, potentially posing a risk of food insecurity and affecting consumer health.
