The advantage of nearly 500km of coastline opens up opportunities for Khanh Hoa logistics
On the afternoon of July 14, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee organized a conference to promote investment in seaports, shallow ports and logistics centers.
Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Ha emphasized that after the merger, the locality owns a development space of more than 8,700 km2, a coastline of nearly 500 km and a system of deep-water bays Van Phong, Cam Ranh, Nha Trang and Ca Na.
According to the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the adjustment of the Provincial Plan for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050, identifies the development of three growth poles including Van Phong, Nha Trang - Cam Lam - Cam Ranh area and the Southern economic region.

In which, seaport infrastructure, shallow ports and logistics centers play a fundamental role in forming the marine economic value chain, promoting industry, trade, services and import and export.
Planned to 2030, Khanh Hoa will develop 6 port areas including Bac Van Phong, Nam Van Phong, Nha Trang, Cam Ranh, Ninh Chu and Ca Na.
The province also plans 4 logistics centers in Van Phong, Nam Cam Ranh, Ca Na and Ninh Chu along with a dry port system to complete a modern logistics network.
The conference not only promotes the potential, advantages, mechanisms, and policies of the locality but also directly connects with domestic and international corporations, shipping lines, logistics enterprises and strategic investors.
Building a logistics ecosystem instead of individual investment
Sharing at the conference, many delegates said that the competitive advantage of the locality in the new period is not only in the scale of ports but also in the ability to organize supply chains, multi-modal connections and build a modern logistics ecosystem. What is needed now is a mechanism to attract investment, develop green ports, smart ports, digital logistics and improve supply chain capacity.

NGND. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Thanh Phong - Rector of Pacific University - commented: Khanh Hoa has enough conditions to develop a deep-water seaport model associated with a shallow port and an integrated logistics center.
Accordingly, Van Phong international transshipment port will take on the role of offshore container transshipment, while Cam Ranh port cluster combined with Cam Ranh International Airport will develop multi-modal maritime - aviation logistics.
The dry port system and logistics center will connect cargo sources from the Central Highlands and South Central Coast with seaports, contributing to reducing logistics costs and improving the competitiveness of export goods.
Agreeing with this view, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Gam proposed that Khanh Hoa develop according to a multi-layered integrated logistics ecosystem model, taking Van Phong Port as the nucleus, synchronously connecting with an inland port (ICD), logistics center, industrial park and multimodal transport infrastructure.
She proposed that the province develop an overall plan for the logistics ecosystem until 2045; prioritize attracting global logistics corporations such as PSA, DP World, Maersk to take advantage of technology, capital and international customer networks.
Representatives of Saigon Newport Corporation said that the current trend of seaport development is to build a synchronous logistics ecosystem instead of investing in individual projects.
According to this unit, Khanh Hoa needs to shift from the mindset of "investing in infrastructure to wait for goods" to "developing an ecosystem to create a source of goods", thereby attracting logistics businesses, shipping lines and international distribution centers.
Business representatives also proposed that Khanh Hoa soon develop a Project on developing a seaport - dry port - logistics center ecosystem to 2035, with a vision to 2050; prepare a clean land fund, invest in connecting infrastructure and build a list of key projects to attract strategic investors.
