On August 30, 2024, in Hanoi, the Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development (NAFIQPM) - Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held the "30th Anniversary of the Journey of Quality of Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Products" (August 26, 1994 - August 26, 2024) Celebrating the 30-year journey of building and developing, defining goals, orientations and tasks in the new period. Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan attended and delivered a speech at the celebration.
Minister Le Minh Hoan said that there are many destinations that an organization or individual must aim for. It could be today's celebration, it could be happiness during a process of striving, it could be improving the quality of life of 100 million Vietnamese people.
"People's health is very important, but perhaps we need to set a vision for 2050. At that time, how will our children and grandchildren be exposed to food sources?" - said the Minister.
30 years since its establishment, the Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development has made important contributions to ensuring safe and quality food sources for domestic consumption and export; the continuous development of Vietnam's agriculture, forestry and fishery sector and meeting the requirements of innovation, integration and development of the country.
Not only does the Department control domestic food safety well, it also closely coordinates with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, especially Vietnamese Trade Counselors abroad to update market information, new regulations of importing countries and proactively negotiate market opening and trade promotion so that Vietnamese agricultural products can increasingly be exported to the world.
Mr. Nguyen Nhu Tiep - Director of the Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development said that the growth and maturity of the NAFI system over the past 30 years has created strong confidence and a solid foundation for people and businesses in ensuring the supply of quality and safe agricultural products for domestic consumption and expanding export markets.
Now NAFIQPM has become a "prestigious brand" not only domestically but also with trade partners and international organizations. That honor was built from the first bricks 30 years ago, since the Ministry of Fisheries issued Decision No. 648 TS/QD dated August 26, 1994 to establish the Center for Aquatic Product Quality and Hygiene Control (abbreviated English name NAFIQACEN) as a competent state agency responsible for advising on perfecting the legal system, building forces and organizing management and control of food safety conditions for entities participating in the production and business chain for domestic consumption, and expanding the seafood export market.
Knowing the strategic orientations and key tasks in the coming time, the Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development focuses on 4 "pillars":
Ensuring safety, improving the quality of agricultural, forestry and fishery products; activating increased processing in each industry chain; proactively negotiating access and expanding markets; promoting the development of brands, trademarks, and communication to promote the development of domestic and foreign consumption markets .
