The strong increase in the stock market has caused significant fluctuations in the asset value of many Vietnamese USD billionaires, notably Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong.
According to an update from Forbes as of August 13, 2025 (Vietnam time), Mr. Vuong owns a net asset of about 12 billion USD, ranking 226th in the list of the richest people in the world.
Compared to about 3 months ago (May 8, 2025) when VIC shares increased dramatically, the stock market of Vingroup shares developed positively before the information that Vinpearl (VPL) - Vingroup's subsidiary listed on HoSE, Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong's assets reached 9.1 billion USD and stood at 325.
Thus, Vingroup Chairman has increased 99 places on the rankings, equivalent to an increase of about 2.9 billion USD after just over three months. This development is associated with the improvement of the group of stocks related to Mr. Vuong.
In the session of August 12, one code increased in price, two codes went sideways and one code decreased, but the total value remained high. Compared to the previous session, his assets decreased slightly but still consolidated his position as the richest USD billionaire in Vietnam and continuously increased in the world USD billionaire rankings.
Besides Mr. Vuong, other billionaires also recorded positive fluctuations. VJC and HDB stocks related to Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao increased by 2.4% and 3.5%, respectively, helping her assets increase by 112 million USD, reaching 3.3 billion USD. Mr. Tran Dinh Long, Chairman of Hoa Phat, has an additional 51 million USD, bringing total assets to 2.9 billion USD when HPG increased by 1.2% to 28,500 VND/unit.
The assets of Mr. Ho Hung Anh - Chairman of Techcombank - and Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang - Chairman of Masan - also increased. Notably, MSN shares have increased for 7 consecutive sessions since August 4, and in the August 12 session alone, they increased by 1.95% to VND 83,600/share, bringing the value of Mr. Quang's assets to 1.2 billion USD, while Mr. Hung Anh's assets to 2.6 billion USD.
