FIVB lost to the Vietnam U21 Women's Volleyball Team in three group stage matches against Indonesia U21, Serbia U21, and Canada U21 based on the FIVB Disciplinary Regulations issued in 2023.
The content of the FIVB's notice stated: "The investigation concluded that the player mentioned did not meet the conditions under Article 12.2 of the FIVB Disciplinary Regulations in 2023.
Therefore, according to Article 13.5.2 of the event Regulations and Article 14.4 of the Disciplinary Regulations, the FIVB Disciplinary Subcommittee has issued a decision to cancel the matches of the Vietnam U21 Volleyball Team in which that player participated and expel that player from the event, effective immediately".
Article 12.2 of the FIVB Disciplinary Regulations applies to the participation of unqualified teams or players.
The content of this article: According to Article 11 on player transfers, the participation (including friendly matches) of teams or players of organizations that are not recognized by FIVB as one or more players who do not meet the conditions according to FIVB Regulations will be punished by removing players from the tournament, canceling matches in which they have participated, fining 30,000 CHF (more than 35,000 USD) of the Federation and clubs involved. Suspend the activities of the Federation and the football team in the tournaments for 2 years".
The Vietnam Volleyball Federation said that there will be an official announcement about the related incident of the Vietnam U21 Women's Volleyball Team.
