VN-Index increases by nearly 20 points but liquidity decreases sharply

Cash flow suddenly decreased sharply, but thanks to the positive support of large stocks, VN-Index recovered and increased by nearly 20 points.

In the afternoon trading session of August 12, the stock market did not have any major changes. In the context of the general market trading differentiation, the cash flow participating was quite weak, but with the main momentum coming from large codes such as VIC, VHM, GAS, TCB..., helped VN-Index close the session up nearly 20 points. However, the general index has not yet surpassed the strong resistance level of 1,800 points.

Closing the session on August 12, VN-Index increased by 19.77 points (+1.11%) to 1,793.18 points. Liquidity on HoSE today stood at a low level with nearly 573 million shares matched, equivalent to a transaction value of more than 14,000 billion VND. According to statistics, VIC is the only code on the market to achieve a transaction value of more than 1,000 billion VND.

Large stock VIC continued to extend its gains and is the main support for the market. At the end of the session, VIC increased by 3.4% to 215,500 VND/share, contributing more than 12 points to the general index. In addition, other large codes such as GAS increased by 3.2%, GVR increased by 2.7%, VHM increased by 2.4%, contributing more than 3.6 points to the general index.

In addition to the Vingroup stock group, the banking pillar group continued to differentiate and increase slightly, with TCB, HDB, ACB, MBB, LPB, EIB, BID... stocks maintaining green; while CTG, SHB, STB, VCB, MSB... adjusted and the amplitude all fluctuated up and down by around 1%.

SHB shares had the largest liquidity in the market, reaching nearly 41 million units, closing the session with this code slightly decreasing by 0.4%; other codes such as TCB, HDB, ACB all had liquidity of more than 10 million units. Meanwhile, the securities stock group turned down slightly as the number of decreasing codes somewhat prevailed. Notably, VIC is also the code that foreign investors bought the most on the HoSE exchange with nearly 190 billion VND.

After 4 previous net selling sessions, foreign investors switched to net buying on the HoSE exchange with a value of VND 312 billion. In addition to VIC, foreign investors strongly bought stocks such as: VIX (VND 152 billion), SSI (VND 141 billion). In the opposite direction, foreign investors sold VHM, ACB, TCB, SHB, FPT.

HSC Securities Company assesses that cash flow is clearly differentiated. Demand is focused on stocks with their own story or positive business results prospects. Meanwhile, profit-taking pressure appeared in many stocks that had increased sharply in previous sessions. This shows that investor sentiment is becoming more cautious as the index approaches the resistance zone. Although VN-Index cannot yet surpass the 1,780 - 1,800 point zone, HSC believes that selling pressure is not really strong when the adjustment level in the session of August 11 is not large and liquidity decreases. The short-term recovery and accumulation trend is still maintained.

AIS Securities Company believes that the VN-Index continues to struggle around the 200-day MA, showing that the market is in a hesitant state after previous recovery efforts. Cash flow is strongly differentiated and there has been no breakthrough. Buying power is present in prominent groups such as Non-Essential Consumer Goods and Technology.

After a series of positive net buying, the reversal of selling by foreign investors in the large-cap group is creating no small psychological pressure for domestic investors.

AIS Securities Company expects the VN-Index to sideway up with the next goal of heading up to the resistance zone of 1,800-1810 points (around the 50-day MA and 20-week MA20). Investors should closely monitor the VN-Index's reaction at the 200-day MA. If this level is not maintained, the possibility of a stronger fluctuation is entirely possible.
