Images of the confrontation between the lions and the buffaloes have just been filmed by Mr. Shenton Safaris at the Southern Luangwa National Park of Zambia. The video begins with a dusty scene, then the buffaloes rush forward in front of the lions. When the dust cleared, it was possible to see a large herd of buffaloes and lions living very close together.
According to Mr. Shenton Safaris, the herd of buffaloes is about 500. The two groups stood in front of each other, grumbling. Occasionally, a wild buffalo separated its flock and attacked, forcing the lion to run away. However, after that, this buffalo quickly returned to the flock.
Both buffalo and lion herds lurked together, selecting the opponent's weaknesses to attack, but in the end, they could not do anything to each other because both sides defended very cautiously.
Lions often follow the flock to hunt for wild buffaloes. When alone, they rarely attack wild buffaloes because their prey is too large. Meanwhile, for safety, wild buffaloes often form flocks of up to hundreds of buffaloes.
