The Vietnam Road Administration has just announced an important strategic plan to ensure traffic order and safety (ATGT) nationwide in 2025. This is the result of implementing the directives in Document No. 227/TTg-CN of the Prime Minister and Document No. 888/KH-BXD of the Ministry of Construction. The plan aims to improve the quality of transport infrastructure and reduce traffic accidents through synchronous and effective measures.
One of the highlights of the plan is to increase the application of advanced technology in traffic management and monitoring, coordinating fines.
New technologies will be widely deployed, including smart traffic monitoring systems, traffic data analysis software, and sensors to automatically detect and handle traffic violations as soon as they occur. In particular, speed monitoring stations and security cameras will play an important role in monitoring and preventing violations.
Strengthen propaganda and education on traffic laws. Plan to build a civilized traffic environment, the plan emphasizes raising people's awareness through visual propaganda programs and mass media. In particular, the campaigns focus on encouraging traffic participants to comply with speed regulations, not drive while drinking alcohol, and wear helmets properly.
The 2025 traffic safety plan will also upgrade, maintain and develop the traffic infrastructure system. National highways, especially those with high traffic volume, will be surveyed and upgraded. Thereby, improving the quality of infrastructure, minimizing traffic black spots, and increasing traffic capacity.
To achieve the above goals, the Vietnam Road Administration will implement a series of specific and synchronous measures to repair, maintain and ensure effective traffic safety management.
The authorities will strengthen the repair, renovation and upgrading of important national highways. Many old, damaged or degraded sections of the road will be completely repaired. Along with that, national highways with a high risk of traffic accidents will be renovated, in order to create more favorable conditions for traffic participants. These renovation measures include installing signs, renewing road surfaces, expanding lanes, and installing safety equipment.
Traffic inspection teams will focus on checking vehicle loads, especially for freight vehicles, passenger cars, and trucks. This helps ensure that vehicles participating in traffic do not exceed the permitted load, while complying with regulations on technical safety and environmental protection.
Apply smart monitoring technology and traffic data analysis. Technology will play a key role in this plan. Monitoring systems will provide real-time information on traffic conditions, helping authorities promptly handle traffic incidents, reducing congestion and accidents. In addition, the use of analysis software will help the Department of Roads forecast traffic situations and propose appropriate adjustment measures.
Strengthen propaganda and education on traffic safety. Traffic safety propaganda campaigns will be widely deployed, especially in areas with high traffic density.
The propaganda content will focus on new regulations, common errors that cause accidents, and how to prevent dangerous situations when participating in traffic.
The Vietnam Road Administration will continue to work closely with police agencies, traffic inspectors and traffic management units in localities. This coordination will help synchronize traffic safety activities, while strictly handling traffic violations.
Along with that, raising awareness of traffic participation, improving infrastructure quality, and enhancing the application of technology will help create a safer and more efficient transportation system, contributing to the sustainable development of the economy and society.
