According to the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee, after 50 years of liberation (April 19, 1975 - April 19, 2025) and 33 years of re-establishing the province, Binh Thuan has achieved many comprehensive achievements: good economic growth, improved people's lives, stable national defense and security, and an increasingly strong political system.
Rising from the sea advantage
With the advantage of a 192km long coastline, the offshore island of Phu Quy has created favorable conditions for Binh Thuan to develop marine economic sectors such as exploitation, aquaculture, seafood associated with the development of processing industry... At the same time, exploiting the potential and advantages of "nedestrian deserts" serving tourism, energy and agriculture.
Effectively exploiting natural advantages, Binh Thuan's economy has maintained good growth for many years. In 2024, GRDP increased by 7.25%, higher than the national average; the scale of the economy reached more than 128,000 billion VND, ranking 26th out of 63 provinces and cities. Total budget revenue reached VND10,838 billion, of which domestic revenue was about VND9,605 billion. The economic structure shifted in the right direction, gradually reducing the proportion of agriculture, increasing industry and services, contributing to creating jobs for local workers.
Developing a smoke-free industry
With harmonious landscapes of forests, mountains, seas and rich cultural resources (people, culture, history, relics, spirituality...), Binh Thuan has built a tourism brand on the world map. Mui Ne National Tourist Area is the core to attract investment in high-end resort complexes, entertainment, commercial services, etc. In the past 5 years, the whole province has welcomed more than 35 million visitors, with tourism revenue estimated at over VND 93,000 billion.
Exports of goods increased by 11.26%, showing the efforts of enterprises to expand markets in the context of a difficult global economy. Foreign cooperation, investment promotion, and business environment improvement continue to be promoted, facilitating the attraction of non-budgetary capital. Many FDI projects have been upgraded and expanded in scale.
smooth traffic infrastructure
Binh Thuan owns a large amount of mineral resources, suitable for the development of the mining industry. Traffic infrastructure is increasingly improved with many key routes, creating smooth connections inside and outside the province. In particular, the 3 expressways Phan Thiet - Dau Giay, Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet and Cam Lam - Vinh Hao with a total length of nearly 160km, along with Vinh Tan international port and the North - South railway, have created favorable conditions for freight transport, promoting economic development.
Many large-scale power power projects such as offshore wind power and LNG power are being invested in the South of Binh Thuan province, when completed, it will synchronously connect national and regional infrastructure. This is an advantage for Binh Thuan to attract more investment in power production projects, making the energy industry a key economic sector, creating momentum for economic growth.
Mr. Tran Van Ut (born in 1933), former Head of Thuan Hai Forestry Company, highly appreciated the changes in his hometown Binh Thuan after 50 years of liberation. He recalled that 50 years ago, he was working in logistics in Nui Ong forest (Thanh Linh), and a few days after the liberation, he returned to Phan Thiet to take on a new assignment in the bustling atmosphere everywhere.
From the traditional profession of making fish sauce, Binh Thuan has shifted to many other economic sectors. Since 1995, tourism has developed strongly, becoming one of the three economic pillars of the province. Infrastructure is increasingly complete with highways, railways, Vinh Tan international port and airport under construction. He was especially impressed with the irrigation system, reservoirs, and water canals invested synchronously, helping to improve the land in sand, wind, and drought, effectively serving agricultural production.
In the context of new development, Binh Thuan has many prospects in areas such as exploitation and processing of seafood; developing the electricity industry, aiming to become a National Energy Center; seaport services associated with urban areas, industrial parks and logistics; developing coastal urban areas and marine tourism at regional and international level.
Proud of the heroic fighting tradition, promoting the spirit of determination and victory, Binh Thuan continues to be united and determined to bring the land of "green sea - white sand - golden sunshine" to develop quickly, sustainably, and become rich from the sea, and join the whole country in entering a new era.
