Maintenance milestones to note
According to advice from Cung Motor Vehicle Maintenance Center (Dinh Cong ward, Hanoi), scooter users need to pay attention to important maintenance milestones so that the engine and related parts maintain a stable operating state.
The first is engine oil. According to this unit, users can replace oil after about 1,000-2,000 km of operation. Oil is responsible for lubricating, supporting cooling and protecting internal parts of the engine. However, the actual time of oil replacement should be prioritized according to the manufacturer's recommendations and vehicle usage conditions.
Next, after about 8,000-12,000 km, users should check the air filter. This part is responsible for filtering dust before air enters the engine. Dirty or expired air filters can affect air intake, making the engine operate less stable and fuel consumption increase.
When the car reaches about 20,000 km, overall inspection and maintenance should be carried out. Items may include the steering column system, front and rear brakes, fuel system, ignition and other necessary parts. Depending on the actual condition, the technician will determine which details need to be cleaned, adjusted or replaced.
Do not shift gears incorrectly
Besides maintenance, driving habits also significantly affect the durability of manual transmission cars. A common error is using a gear for a long time even though operating conditions have changed. When stopping the car, going uphill or carrying heavy loads, the driver needs to choose a suitable gear class instead of trying to maintain a high gear.
Drivers should also not continuously shift many low gears when going uphill or shift gears too suddenly. Inappropriate gear changes can increase the load on the clutch, gearbox and powertrain details, leading to wear in the long run.
Motorcycles have a structure that is not too complicated but still need to be used properly. Car owners should follow the maintenance schedule, check the actual condition and follow the manufacturer's instructions. Maintenance at the right milestone combined with appropriate gear shifting habits will help limit arising repair costs.
