"Beautiful sister" Chau Tuyet Van wins national championship
Chau Tuyet Van is a member of the Vietnam Taekwondo Team and the Ho Chi Minh City Taekwondo Team. Right before participating in the recording of the TV show "Beautiful Sister Riding the Wind 2024", the golden girl of this performance category managed to make her mark with the Gold Medal of the 2024 National Taekwondo Championship.
“I have completed my mission at the national tournament and now I am back... to “ride” the wind!”, Chau Tuyet Van humorously shared on her personal Facebook page. Fans once thought she would not be able to attend the 2024 National Taekwondo Championship, but with the highest professional spirit, the female martial artist was determined to compete and win the Gold Medal in the standard mixed doubles event.
In her more than 25-year career of training and competing in taekwondo, Chau Tuyet Van has won many Gold Medals in national tournaments. In the display cabinet that Tuyet Van keeps in a solemn corner of her home, the Gold Medals are the ones she cherishes the most and appear in the most central position. With the participation in the 2024 National Taekwondo Championship, the special meaning is partly because Tuyet Van only participates in a single event due to the close date of the TV program.
Chau Tuyet Van has shared frankly in many media appearances that she does not regret choosing taekwondo as a career to develop her sports. She said: “In my journey, there has not always been a smooth ride, but I have been able to train, compete, and live with a passion for sports in taekwondo. I have never thought of giving up on it.
When girls practice sports, especially martial arts, they often have more difficulties than others, but I always have the support of my family, the encouragement of my friends, the thoughtful guidance of my teachers, and I never lose confidence as an athlete. Living with my own passion is always extremely happy."
Still regretting a chance at ASIAD
At the age of 34, Chau Tuyet Van has won almost all the major and minor titles in Taekwondo competitions. However, she once shared that she still lacks a medal from the ASIAD arena. That is her big expectation.
At the taekwondo competition of the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia, Chau Tuyet Van won the Gold Medal in the mixed team event for men and women. That was the 6th consecutive Gold Medal that Chau Tuyet Van won at the SEA Games arena. At that time, she expressed: “Maybe, the 32nd SEA Games will be my last competition in this arena. There are many journeys ahead of me and many other young athletes who are very promising for taekwondo performance will compete better. I have no regrets about saying goodbye to the SEA Games because through 8 participations, I have achieved success for Vietnamese taekwondo and the country's sports, I really appreciate those achievements”.
Chau Tuyet Van has not been able to realize her dream of conquering the ASIAD. In 2018, the performance category was introduced for the first time in the taekwondo competition at the ASIAD and Chau Tuyet Van was the main face expected to win a medal. She showed her best efforts in the individual and women's team events but did not make it into the medal group.
That is also the only ASIAD that Chau Tuyet Van has attended so far. The 19th ASIAD will be held in 2023 in Hangzhou (China), and the performance category will be contested, but Chau Tuyet Van will not participate, so she has not been able to realize her dream yet.
“Taekwondo gives me a lot of experience. It is not just a martial art, but also a way of life. I can train myself more. In addition, when I compete in many places, I understand more about regional culture and the interesting people of each land,” Chau Tuyet Van shared.
Although there is no ASIAD medal result yet, Chau Tuyet Van is still the most impressive person because this female martial artist with a lovely face has conquered many world and Asian level tournaments. In May 2024, Chau Tuyet Van made the stadium at Tien Son Sports Palace (Da Nang) resound with applause when she and her teammates performed excellently and achieved the highest score, winning the Gold Medal in the standard female team boxing over 30 years old.
“My feelings when winning the Gold Medal of the Asian Championship at home are hard to describe. This is an important tournament, overcoming strong teams to win is always not easy, but I and everyone did well as in professional preparation,” Chau Tuyet Van confided after competing in Da Nang at that time.
Top 29 is success for me
It is unclear where Chau Tuyet Van was introduced to participate in the TV show "Beautiful Sister Riding the Wind 2024", but many predictions say that she will be one of the people who create attraction. Tuyet Van is very supported by her friends in the taekwondo community, always cheering her on enthusiastically. In her first time participating in such an attractive TV show, Tuyet Van cautiously said: "For me, being in the Top 29 people with the highest position is already a success". This program took place for the first time and recorded 30 female faces in many fields being invited to participate.
In Chau Tuyet Van, the taekwondo professional recognizes the highest discipline in work. With any job, Chau Tuyet Van always focuses on doing it according to the requirements because that is the discipline that martial arts teaches her. Now, just by using the keyword "Chau Tuyet Van" on the Google search engine, many results and images of this female martial artist appear. But there has never been any conflicting information about Chau Tuyet Van's expertise and training.
Girls are considered to be rigid when participating in sports, especially martial arts. This is the opposite of Chau Tuyet Van. It seems that the more she practices Taekwondo, the younger and more beautiful she becomes. Chau Tuyet Van has many artistic photo albums showing off her body and lovely face because she believes that girls have the right to be beautiful and that beauty that meets the standards increases the value of each person.
Taekwondo is the first sport to bring outstanding achievements to Vietnamese sports in the international arena (Olympic Silver Medal in 2000).
Now, taekwondo continues to have its face appear on the most attractive television program watched by people all over the country. Bringing viewers closer to real people, real work and seeing their outstanding abilities is what television programs create positive effects.
After days of competition or after time dedicated to life, Chau Tuyet Van is still a taekwondo fighter in the familiar white uniform. At this time, she started teaching martial arts in Ho Chi Minh City. "Every time I get older, I always put awareness first and practice more, putting myself in a framework", Chau Tuyet Van shared.
She said that in addition to the time spent practicing with the taekwondo team, this athlete also practices to improve her physical and professional skills, and Tuyet Van is almost always the last person to leave the practice floor when the lights are turned off and the door is closed.
