Ho Chi Minh City reclaims land from 1,166 households to open a 6-lane road through Thu Duc

On October 28, the People's Committee of Thu Duc City held a conference to announce the draft compensation, support and resettlement plan for 1,166 households under the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 2 project.

This is an important step to speed up site clearance, creating conditions for the implementation of phases 1 and 2 of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 2 project - one of the city's key infrastructure projects.

The project consists of two sections: section 1 from Phu Huu bridge to Vo Nguyen Giap street, more than 3.5 km long, and section 2 from Vo Nguyen Giap street to Pham Van Dong street, nearly 2.5 km long.

Both sections were cleared from the beginning, 67 m wide, then built parallel roads on both sides with 6 lanes (each road is 17 m wide, 3 lanes). The vacant land in the middle of the route will be reserved for future road expansion.

To serve the construction, Thu Duc City plans to reclaim about 61.15 hectares, affecting 1,166 households, individuals and organizations, with a total compensation and support cost of about 7,600 billion VND.

According to the People's Committee of Thu Duc City, the independent consulting unit has proposed 122 land price locations for the project, and at the same time completed the draft land price for the Compensation Council to review and submit to the people for comments.

This price does not include the value of architectural and construction works but is considered suitable for market prices. In particular, the expected resettlement land price is taken from the land price list according to Decision 79/2024/QD-UBND, helping to ensure the rights of the people.

Thu Duc City People's Committee has basically prepared enough housing and land funds in resettlement areas, including: Dai Nhan residential area (in Van Phuc urban area, Hiep Binh Phuoc ward); Dong Tang Long urban area (Long Truong ward and Truong Thanh ward); 50-hectare resettlement area (Cat Lai ward); Long Binh - Long Thanh My resettlement area; C8 apartment building (Tang Nhon Phu A ward); Lot R7 Duc Khai apartment building (An Khanh ward) and Lot CD area 17.3 hectares (An Khanh ward).

To ensure transparency and consensus, the draft compensation plan will be publicly posted at the headquarters of the People's Committees of the wards: Tang Nhon Phu B, Phuoc Long A, Phuoc Long B, Truong Tho, Binh Tho, Linh Dong and the management boards of the residential areas within the project scope from October 28 to November 27.

After this time, Thu Duc City People's Committee will organize a conference to listen to people's opinions scheduled for November 28.

For households that agree with the plan, Thu Duc City People's Committee said that compensation will be paid from the beginning of December.

People who hand over their land early will be supported with procedures for granting certificates at resettlement areas, provided with house models, construction permits and instructions on converting land use purposes for the remaining area.

The Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor) said that if the site is handed over by Thu Duc City on schedule, these two sections of Ring Road 2 will start construction in June 2025 and be completed in 2027.
