The crystallization of Ho Chi Minh's thought
With just over 1,000 extremely concise words, President Ho Chi Minh's Testament has conveyed to the entire Party, the entire people and the entire army the iron determination, strong belief and great strength of the Vietnamese nation, the strength of justice and the truth of the times "nothing is more precious than independence and freedom"; the strength of patriotism and Vietnamese revolutionary heroism . With that special meaning, President Ho Chi Minh's Testament is considered a priceless heritage of the Vietnamese nation and is recognized as a "National Treasure".
As the poet To Huu once wrote: “Oh Uncle, your heart is so immense/ Embracing the whole country and all human lives” . That shows the tolerance, humanity, and lifelong love for all classes of people and all humanity of the beloved President Ho Chi Minh. And this is even more clearly shown in his Will, before leaving the world and entering eternity, “to meet Uncle Karl Marx, Uncle Lenin and other revolutionary elders”.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Duy Quat - former Deputy Head of the Central Committee for Culture and Ideology (now the Central Committee for Propaganda and Education), although it has been revised many times since its initial drafting in May 1965 - May 1969, President Ho Chi Minh's Testament mainly deals with public and private matters.
In the general work section, President Ho Chi Minh commented and instructed: “First of all, let's talk about the Party”; “Union members and youth”; “Working people”; “The resistance war against America”; “About the world communist movement”.
In the personal section, President Ho Chi Minh expressed his “regret that he could not serve longer and more”, and advised against “a grand funeral, so as not to waste the people’s time and money”. Many messages were conveyed in these contents, which can be summarized into basic points that are very compatible with the contemporary value standards that the world community is aiming for.
Uncle Ho's Testament is dominated by "the Party and the people". In the first lines of the Testament, Uncle Ho wrote "First of all, about the Party". He devoted his whole life to the country and the people, wholeheartedly serving the Fatherland and the people, and until he was about to leave forever, he still cared for the country, the people, and the revolutionary cause of our nation.
In the Testament, it was affirmed that "Our Party is a ruling Party" but Uncle Ho advised: "Every Party member and cadre must be truly imbued with revolutionary ethics, truly thrifty, honest, impartial and selfless. We must keep our Party truly clean, worthy of being a leader, a truly loyal servant of the people".
“Uncle Ho's instructions show the establishment of principles and criteria that are normative for organizations and public servants in their relationship with the people. In President Ho Chi Minh's thought, he always emphasized the origin of organizations and individuals exercising public power from the people, affirming their position and role as leaders and managers, and the goal of the public service is to serve the Fatherland and the people. And in his thought, morality is the root of public servants, the first standard that must be maintained and strengthened in every process of life and work of public servants. That shows us the depth of Uncle Ho's thought towards the ruling party and the people" - Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Duy Quat analyzed.
Devoting his whole life to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation
Dr. Le Trung Kien - Ho Chi Minh Institute and Party Leaders (Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics) - said that President Ho Chi Minh's Testament is a priceless work, becoming a "National Treasure" and at the same time a contribution of contemporary Vietnamese culture to the common cultural treasure of humanity.
In his Testament, he advised the entire Party and people on important and important matters and oriented the cause of building and developing the country after unification, especially the essential issues in the work of building and rectifying the Party. His Testament wrote: "Comrades from the Central Committee to the Party cells need to preserve the unity and consensus of the Party as if preserving the pupil of their eye"; "In the Party, practicing broad democracy, regularly and seriously self-criticizing and criticizing is the best way to consolidate and develop the unity and solidarity of the Party" but he also advised: "There must be comradely love for each other"...
With the far-sighted vision of a revolutionary leader, the issue of human resources was mentioned by President Ho Chi Minh in a profound, comprehensive and scientific way. He clearly saw the importance of caring for and nurturing the next generation of revolutionaries for the strong development of the Party and the country. He stated: “The Party must take care of educating and training them to become masters of the cause of building socialism, both “red” and “expert”.
In the section on “Working People”, the Testament states: “The Party must have a good plan to develop the economy and culture, in order to constantly improve the people’s lives”. Uncle Ho devoted his entire life to the revolutionary cause of the Party, the country, and the people.
Uncle Ho's Testament also pointed out the path to building socialism in Vietnam, outlining the theory of innovation in our country. The Testament is a plan, an action program for the entire Party and people on the construction of a new society with guidelines on management in the fields of politics, economics, culture, and society to continuously improve the material and spiritual life of all classes of people.
“Many analyses by experts, scientists, and research scholars have confirmed that President Ho Chi Minh's Testament is one of the important legacies, crystallizing the moral quintessence and noble soul of the leader who devoted his whole life to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation,” said Dr. Le Trung Kien.
The torch lights the way for the Vietnamese revolution
Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Trong Lam - Director, Editor-in-Chief of the National Political Publishing House Truth - said that 55 years have passed, and our entire Party, army and people have increasingly deeply recognized the contents of President Ho Chi Minh's Testament and have determined to seriously implement it, in accordance with his teachings.
More than half a century of implementing the Testament is an important historical milestone in the Vietnamese revolutionary cause led by the Party, affirming that in any circumstances, our entire Party, people and army must unite and steadfastly follow the revolutionary path that our Party, our people and President Ho Chi Minh have chosen.
Up to now, 55 years after the passing of President Ho Chi Minh, nearly 50 years after the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, nearly 40 years of implementing the renovation process, we have achieved great achievements of historical significance. As the 13th National Congress affirmed: "Our country has never had such a foundation, potential, position and international prestige as it does today."
“After 55 years, the Testament still retains its contemporary value, and is a “torch” that lights the way for the revolutionary cause of our Party and people. President Ho Chi Minh’s instructions in the Testament are extremely simple yet sacred, of historical significance and imbued with a noble humanistic spirit,” said Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Trong Lam.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Trong Lam, all of His instructions in the Testament are directed towards the "final wish" which is: "Our entire Party and people unite to strive to build a peaceful, unified, independent, democratic and prosperous Vietnam, and make a worthy contribution to the world revolutionary cause". That is also the vision, will and aspiration of the entire nation.
