On January 25, Lam Ha District Labor Federation organized the handover of sanitation facilities to the teachers' dormitory at Tan Thanh II Primary School.
Mr. Nhu Van Ba - Principal of Tan Thanh II Primary School - said that this residential area has more than 10 households of teachers and staff of Tan Thanh II Primary School, Tan Mai Kindergarten and Le Van Tam Secondary School, all located in Tan Thanh commune.
This area is far from the district center, transportation is difficult. The apartment complex was built more than 20 years ago, only has rooms, no toilets.
"Teachers have to build temporary toilets and share them, which is very inconvenient in daily life," said Mr. Nhu Van Ba.
Teacher Bui Thi Lan - President of the Tan Mai Kindergarten Union - said that she has lived in this apartment complex for nearly ten years. Most of the people here are teachers who come from far away to work.
There are also people here since the construction of this apartment complex. However, due to difficult circumstances, they do not have their own houses to live in.
According to teacher Lan, before, there were 4 dormitories but only 1 shared bathroom and 1 toilet, which was very difficult. After living there for a long time, siblings understood and shared with each other. However, in daily life, it was inevitable that there would be times when they would bother each other, especially during rush hour.
“We are very excited to be supported with this restroom. From now on, we will not have to give way to each other in the morning, noon or evening like before,” said teacher Bui Thi Lan.
Chairman of Lam Ha District Labor Federation - Mr. K'Dung - said that, facing the difficulties of teachers in this collective housing area, the unit launched the movement "Schools help schools".
Mr. K’Dung said that the grassroots trade unions of schools in Lam Ha district have mobilized union members to actively participate. In just the last 2 months of 2024, the amount of money this unit received was nearly 90 million VND.
With this money, Lam Ha Labor Federation supported Tan Thanh II Primary School to build a sanitary facility for the teachers' dormitory here. The project includes 4 bathrooms and a clean, spacious septic tank, ensuring environmental hygiene.
“The project is a meaningful gift from union members and workers of schools in the district to the teachers here. It is even more meaningful when the project is handed over and put into use right on this Tet holiday,” Mr. K’Dung said excitedly.
