The Phong Chau bridge collapse (which occurred on September 9) has affected the trading activities of many businesses and workers in industrial parks and industrial clusters.
In order to cope with the storm and proactively overcome the impacts of the Phong Chau bridge collapse, businesses have actively developed plans to ensure uninterrupted production; implementing the direction of the superior union, the Executive Committee of the grassroots unions has deployed to grasp the situation of workers at the company to count the number of workers affected by the Phong Chau bridge collapse, thereby proposing to businesses plans to support workers.
According to a quick report from the grassroots unions, 1,381 workers from 37 enterprises in Thuy Van, Trung Ha, and Cam Khe Industrial Parks who travel to work every day via Phong Chau Bridge were affected. The unit with the fewest cases had at least a few cases, and the largest unit had nearly 300 workers.
Faced with the difficult situation of workers, most enterprises have promoted and encouraged workers to stabilize their mentality and work with peace of mind. At the same time, the company and the union have provided specific support for workers such as: Arranging shuttle buses for workers, finding accommodation for workers or arranging for workers to rest at the enterprise; supporting fuel costs for workers who have to travel longer routes every day, arranging for workers to leave 1 hour early but still counting as working time; in case of having to stop to fight floods, the company still pays full salary to workers...
The level of support depends on the conditions of each enterprise. Some units support workers with gasoline money ranging from 20,000 VND to 50,000 VND per day per person. Some units support workers with 300,000 VND to 1,500,000 VND per person. Some support workers with 500,000 VND per person per period and one meal per day, or provide workers with free food and accommodation at the enterprise...
Through timely support activities of enterprises, workers are very confident and excited to work, striving to well implement the production and business plans of the enterprise.
Also on this occasion, the provincial industrial park trade union presented support money to 4 union members whose roofs were blown off due to the impact of storm No. 3, each family received 1 million VND to promptly encourage union members who unfortunately had their houses damaged by the storm.
