On the morning of January 25, at Suoi Tien Tourist Area, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation organized the program "Workers' families celebrate Tet with the city" for the second time in 2025.
The program was attended by 100 families of workers working at units and enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City, representing 10,000 families who cannot return home for Tet.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Pham Chi Tam - Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation - said that in 2024, Ho Chi Minh City's economy will continue to recover, the business community in general will overcome difficulties, contributing to promoting the city's socio-economic development, improving and enhancing the material and spiritual life of workers and people.
However, a number of businesses still face many difficulties, affecting the jobs and income of a number of union members and workers.
On the occasion of Lunar New Year 2025, many families of workers chose to stay in Ho Chi Minh City to celebrate Tet away from home. Understanding and sharing the difficulties of workers, the Party Committee, government, all levels, sectors of Ho Chi Minh City, and businesses have paid attention to taking care of workers in Ho Chi Minh City.
The 4th program "Workers' families celebrate Tet with the City" in 2025 is a very practical activity, organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation in coordination with Suoi Tien Cultural Tourism Joint Stock Company for 10,000 typical workers' families to stay in Ho Chi Minh City to celebrate Tet with about 40,000 people celebrating Tet at Suoi Tien Cultural Tourism Area from January 22 to February 27, 2025.
"Today's program is not only a thank you from the Party Committee, government and Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union for those valuable contributions, but also a spiritual gift, adding motivation for workers to continue to strive and contribute in the new year. Hopefully, the practical and meaningful gifts from the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union will bring joy and help each family have a fuller and warmer Tet," said Mr. Tam.
Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Ninh - a union member of Le Van Viet Hospital, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City - said that her hometown is Dong Thap province, and she has lived and worked in Thu Duc City for 18 years.
Due to the difficult family circumstances, this year, her family and many other families of workers will not be able to return home to celebrate Tet with their relatives, but will stay in Ho Chi Minh City to celebrate Tet.
According to Ms. Ninh, during Tet, everyone is excited and wishes to reunite with their family to celebrate the traditional Tet of the nation. And it is also an opportunity for children and grandchildren living far away to put aside their worries and hardships in life and return to their loved ones.
For those who live far from home, homesickness and the desire to be close to loved ones become more intense than ever. However, due to different circumstances, of which material factors are the most important, we have to put aside our homesickness and save up to return home for Tet when we have enough conditions.
“I, like other families of workers far from home, am truly touched and happy to participate in the program “Workers’ families celebrate Tet with the City”. It is also a great encouragement and spiritual comfort for families of workers in difficult circumstances who have to celebrate Tet far from home. We sincerely thank the leaders and the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union for always accompanying, paying much attention and taking care of workers, especially those in difficult circumstances, creating conditions for us to celebrate the traditional Tet joyfully and meaningfully with very practical gifts, full of love and connection”, Ms. Ninh said emotionally.
It is known that each worker's family is given a ticket (worth 1.4 million VND) for a family of up to 4 members to enter the gate, free sightseeing, experience some games and a family reunion meal.
