On October 18, news from the People's Committee of Tien Lang district said that, implementing the direction of the People's Committee of Hai Phong city, the People's Committee of the district directed the People's Committee of Kien Thiet commune to terminate the contract with Thanh Vinh Trade and Tourism Joint Stock Company; at the same time, issued a notice to terminate waste treatment activities, requiring this company to move all human resources and waste classification technology lines out of Kien Thiet commune landfill.
To completely resolve the problem at Kien Thiet landfill, the District People's Committee has also agreed to let Hai Phong Environmental Services Company Limited invest funds to support the locality in handling the amount of waste remaining at Kien Thiet landfill by classifying, separating each type of waste, and treating it separately according to the physical properties of each basic component.
Previously, as Lao Dong reported, the landfill in Bac Phong village, Kien Thiet commune has existed for many years, with mountains of garbage piled up, the stench of garbage making people hold their breath every time they come near, causing serious environmental pollution, but has not been thoroughly treated, causing public outrage.
Previously, in 2020, with the consent of the District People's Committee, Kien Thiet commune contracted with Thanh Vinh Trade and Tourism Joint Stock Company to install a line to classify and filter household waste in the planned concentrated landfill area of Kien Thiet commune. Since the beginning of 2023, the old screening equipment has deteriorated, and the Company has not invested in additional equipment. The collected waste is only fermented with microorganisms, not treated, leading to a large amount of waste remaining at Kien Thiet landfill, causing environmental pollution, greatly affecting people's lives and production.
The District People's Committee has directed specialized agencies and the Kien Thiet Commune People's Committee to regularly inspect, urge, and remind Thanh Vinh Trading and Tourism Joint Stock Company to properly fulfill its commitment to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the District People's Committee, and the Kien Thiet Commune People's Committee on completing the treatment of the remaining waste volume at the Kien Thiet Commune landfill in August 2024.
However, after many times of urging, Thanh Vinh Trading and Tourism Joint Stock Company still failed to do so. After many meetings to discuss solutions, Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tung had to directly intervene, direct and handle the case.
After that, Tien Lang district decided to terminate the contract with Thanh Vinh Trade and Tourism Joint Stock Company, and agreed to let Hai Phong Environmental Services Company Limited handle the landfill in Kien Thuy commune.
