The tournament continues to affirm its role as a prestigious international playground for youth football, and is also a typical symbol of the friendship and sports cooperation between Vietnam and Japan.
The tournament is co-chaired by Kawasaki Frontale Club (Japan) and Becamex Ho Chi Minh City FC (Vietnam). This is an annual activity that has been maintained since 2018, on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.
After 7 seasons, the Vietnam - Japan U-13 International Youth Football Tournament is not only a place for competition and professional competition for young players but also becomes a "launching pad" for many talents. Many players who have participated in the tournament are now members of the national youth teams or pursuing a professional football path at domestic and foreign academies.
This year's tournament brings together 12 excellent youth teams from many countries. Including 5 teams from Japan including Shimizu S-Pulse Mishima, Vanraure Hachinohe, Vegalta Sendai, Kawasaki Frontale Todoroki and Kawasaki Frontale Ikuta; Albirex Niigata Singapore team representing Singapore; along with 6 teams from Vietnam: An Giang FC, Dong Nai Youth Team, Dong Thap FC, Hanoi FC, Becamex Ho Chi Minh FC and Ho Chi Minh City FC.
The teams are divided into a round-robin group, each match consists of two rounds, each round lasts 25 minutes. The teams with the best results will qualify for the semi-finals and finals. The competition format is considered suitable for the U-13 age group, helping young players develop comprehensively in terms of skills, physical strength and competitive spirit.
Speaking about the tournament, Mr. Yoshida Takayuki - President of Kawasaki Frontale Club, Head of the Organizing Committee - said that more and more players who have participated in the tournament are called up to the national youth teams and compete in a professional environment. The tournament becoming a stepping stone for young players to reach out to the world is our great pride, he emphasized.
