The announcement of the FIVB temporarily suspending operations and immediately taking effect for the Philippine Volleyball Federation (PNVF) was detailed by the Asian Volleyball Confederation - AVC on the evening of May 29.
The reason for this suspension is that FIVB is concerned about management after allegations of violating the FIVB Code of Ethics from the Philippine Volleyball Federation (according to Article 13.1.1). Currently, the FIVB's Independent Ethics Council is investigating this matter.
FIVB's announcement stated: "The suspension is considered necessary to protect this sport even though FIVB is striving to find a sustainable direction for Philippine volleyball and ensure priority for athletes, maintaining long-term development commitments for volleyball in the Philippines.
Including a 7-year empowerment and development agreement between FIVB, the Philippine Sports Commission, the Asian Volleyball Federation and PNVF to help promote the development of volleyball here.
To ensure stability and good governance during this temporary suspension period, a temporary committee is temporarily established to supervise PNVF's operations, according to Article 1. 9. 1 of the FIVB General Regulations. FIVB sets out a clear and constructive roadmap towards PNVF returning to full operation...
The interim committee appointed by FIVB to supervise the activities of PNVF consists of 5 members. Ms. Hila Asanuma, member of the FIVB Executive Committee, is the Chairman of this interim committee.
