Volleyball player Pham Van Hiep is preparing to get married
Opposite hitter Pham Van Hiep will end his single life when officially holding a wedding ceremony with his partner To Thi Thao Nguyen on June 6th.
According to research, Van Hiep sent invitations to friends and colleagues. The wedding ceremony on June 6th was held in Da Nang (the bride's house area).
Van Hiep is the captain of the Bien Phong MB men's volleyball team currently competing in the 2026 National Club Championship.
This hitter possesses good expertise in the opposite hitter position. Van Hiep once appeared in the squad of the Vietnamese men's volleyball team participating in SEA Games 33 in Thailand. Unfortunately, the player did not win a medal because the Vietnamese men's volleyball team only reached 4th place in the above Games.
From a club perspective, Van Hiep won the national championship with the Bien Phong men's team in 2024 and 2025.
This year, Van Hiep is not named in the list of the Vietnamese men's volleyball team training in the first phase being implemented at the National High-Level Athlete Training Center. However, the hitter still has his own joy when building a happy family with his loved one.
New competition format of AVC Cup 2026
The Asian Volleyball Federation will apply a new competition format at the AVC Cup 2026 for men and women. This year, Vietnamese volleyball will only participate in the AVC Cup 2026 women's tournament to be held in the Philippines from June 6 to 14.
According to new regulations, AVC Cup 2026 has 12 participating teams. The organizers draw 12 teams into 2 groups (6 teams in each group) respectively: Group A: Group A includes Philippines, Taiwan (China), Kyrgyzstan, South Korea, Australia, Uzbekistan; Group B: Vietnam, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Lebanon.
The teams will play in a round-robin format in the group stage to determine the rankings from 1 to 6. Following the group stage, the top 2 teams in each group will receive a ticket to the semi-finals, competing for the championship.
The remaining 4 teams (from 3rd to 6th place) will be paired for ranking without organizing quarter-final matches.
Accordingly, 2 6th-place teams of each group will compete with each other for 11th place; 2 5th-place teams of each group will meet to compete for 9th place; 2 4th-place teams of each group will compete with each other for 7th place and 2 3rd-place teams of each group will compete to compete for 5th place.
This new competition format is expected by the Asian Volleyball Federation to create the most attractive and fiercely competitive at the AVC Cup 2026.
Participating in this year's tournament, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team competes as the defending champion.
Player playing for Ho Chi Minh City Police team is an Iranian national team player
Main hitter Ali Haghparast has been registered as a member of the Iranian Men's Volleyball Team participating in the 2026 Nations League International Tournament. The first leg of this year's tournament takes place from June 10 to June 14.
This year, the men's content of the 2026 Nations League International Tournament has 18 teams participating. In the first leg, the Iranian men's volleyball team competed with Brazil, Argentina, Bulgaria, Serbia and Belgium.
Ali Haghparast came to Vietnam to wear the Ho Chi Minh City Police team jersey in the first round of the 2026 National Club Championship held in April in Dong Anh (Hanoi). Following that, this hitter and Ho Chi Minh City Police team won the Hung Vuong Cup 2026 championship.
