On August 23, Hanoi National University of Education held a ceremony to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Faculty of Arts.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Tran Thi Thu Ha - Head of the Faculty of Arts said that the faculty was established in 2001 with the name Faculty of Music and Fine Arts Pedagogy, performing the task of training art teachers for educational institutions.
According to Dr. Tran Thi Thu Ha, in the early years of establishment, the faculty faced many difficulties in terms of facilities, equipment and staff. After 25 years, the faculty gradually expanded its scale, improved the quality of university and postgraduate training and developed staff.
The renaming to the Faculty of Arts marks a change in development orientation. Accordingly, in addition to teacher training, the faculty expands to creative fields, theoretical research, heritage conservation and international cooperation.
Ms. Ha said that in 25 years, tens of thousands of bachelors have been trained at the faculty and are currently working in many localities, including music and fine arts teachers at educational institutions.
In the coming period, the Faculty of Arts sets a goal to build an academic environment in a modern, humane, and creative direction; promote digital transformation, improve the quality of scientific research and expand international cooperation.
Also at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Son - Rector of Hanoi National University of Education - said that the special feature of the Faculty of Arts is the combination of art and educational science.
According to Mr. Son, lecturers and students of art majors need to both maintain passion and creativity, and meet the requirements for standards and pedagogical standards of the teaching profession. Art activities in the pedagogical environment also need to be based on educational science to be able to inspire and develop learners' abilities.
The Rector of Hanoi National University of Education assessed that after 25 years, the Faculty of Arts has gradually solved the requirement to combine artistry and pedagogy.
Mr. Son expects the department to continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, creativity, enthusiasm and passion, and at the same time focus on developing the creative capacity of students in the next stage.
