Nguyen Hoai Anh, a student of class CQ60. 03. 01, majoring in Finance and Insurance, Faculty of Banking - Insurance, Academy of Finance, has just won the First Prize, the IAV - OLIS award for outstanding students in life insurance in 2025, thanks to the essay title: "From the heart of a mother: A story about the humanistic value of life insurance".
In her essay, Hoai Anh shared about her mother's story. Thanks to life insurance, she has turned the love for her children into a solid shield, helping the whole family overcome one of the most difficult periods of life.
In 2018, Hoai Anh's mother decided to buy life insurance for 62 million VND with a 14-year contract term.
With the meager salary of a teacher, at that time, Hoai Anh's mother's decision surprised many people. But for her, it was a commitment, a silent preparation for the future of the people she loved the most.
Mother often says, insurance is not fear, but peace of mind" - Hoai Anh shared.
A year after signing the contract, Hoai Anh's mother discovered she had thyroid cancer. The disease came unexpectedly, causing her whole family to collapse in a moment. But thanks to the insurance money after completing the medical record, the female student's whole family was partially supported financially. Her mother's treatment was favorable, her studies were stable, not interrupted.
From her own experience, Hoai Anh drew a lesson: "Life insurance is not just an "investment" in risk, but an investment in happiness. It helps people bravely face unexpectedness, nurture faith in life, and give each other hope for a better tomorrow" - she expressed.
The IAV - OLIS 2025 Award is a prestigious award co-organized by the Vietnam Insurance Association (IAV) and the Oriental Life Insurance Culture Development Center (OLIS - Japan), to encourage students from major universities in the insurance industry.
Mr. Ngo Trung Dung, Deputy Secretary General of the Vietnam Insurance Association, said that the main purpose of the award is to arouse and nurture the passion for life insurance among the generation of students studying related majors and specializations.
The total prize money awarded annually is 3,000 USD, including 1 First Prize worth 1,000 USD, 2 Second Prizes worth 400 USD each and 06 Third Prizes worth 200 USD each.
A special point is that this year, all 3 first, second, and third prizes belonged to students of the Academy of Finance.
Sharing at the award ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dao Tung - Director of the Academy of Finance expressed his pride in the achievements that students have achieved.
He highly appreciated the meaning that the contest brings to students and said that currently, the funding for actual combat activities is still very constrained, so effective coordination is needed for students to have a learning environment associated with practice.
Through this, the Academy wishes to continue to connect more deeply with the Vietnam Insurance Association, and very much hopes to receive stronger support from the Association. We also propose a model for building a life insurance practice room at the Academy. If the Academy can arrange space, we hope the Association and businesses will accompany and support financially, professionally and practically" - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dao Tung expressed.
He also proposed expanding the scope of the competitions, not only limiting it to insurance students but also opening it to students from other majors to participate.
This will help spread the value of the insurance industry more strongly throughout society. The Academy is ready to organize exam rounds at the school level, then select teams to participate at higher levels" - Mr. Tung said.
