Consecutive fires occurring in Hanoi recently have given special attention to fire prevention and fighting (PCCC) in schools and residential areas. In the context of hot weather causing increased electricity demand, the risk of fire and explosion also poses more risks for students and households.
Recently, at Lang Ha Secondary School, Lang Ward People's Committee coordinated with the Hanoi Fire and Rescue Police force to organize a propaganda and training session on fire prevention and fighting, rescue and drowning prevention skills for students and people in the area.

At the training session, students were familiarized with common causes of fire and explosion such as electrical short circuits, overload of electrical equipment, and carelessness when using firepower in the family. In addition to the theory part, students were also instructed on practicing using portable fire extinguishers and fire situation handling skills when a fire occurs.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tung, Principal of Lang Ha Secondary School, said that the school highly values fire prevention and fighting work, especially during the summer when the risk of fire and explosion increases. According to Mr. Tung, coordinating with localities to organize propaganda sessions helps students raise awareness and equip themselves with necessary skills to respond when encountering incidents.
Through the training session, the school hopes that children will have more knowledge and fire prevention and fighting skills to be able to apply when necessary and propagate to their families" - Mr. Nguyen Van Tung shared.
According to Major Bui Van Vu, Deputy Head of the Area Police Team of Lang Ward Police, the ward has many schools and boarding houses with a large concentration of students and workers, so fire prevention and fighting safety must be maintained regularly. In addition to inspection, functional forces also promote direct propaganda at schools, residential areas and through local information channels.
Fire prevention and fighting is not only the task of functional forces but also requires the joint efforts of the entire people, especially the proactive awareness of prevention from each person," Major Bui Van Vu emphasized.

The point that attracted many students at the propaganda session was the simulated fire fighting practice part. Students directly operated with fire extinguishers, learned how to extinguish fires and handle emergencies under the guidance of functional forces.
Le Thu Trang, a student at Lang Ha Secondary School, said that the training session helped her better understand the role of fire prevention and fighting skills in daily life. "After today's class, I will propagate to my family about the causes of fires and explosions and prepare necessary equipment for fire prevention and fighting," the student said.
In addition to fire prevention and fighting content, the program also integrates knowledge of drowning prevention for students before summer vacation. Officials guide skills in identifying risks, first aid and measures to prevent water accidents.
In the context of complicated fires, bringing propaganda and training activities to schools is considered a necessary solution to help students raise awareness, proactively protect themselves and support families in fire prevention and fighting.
