The ceremony was attended by former Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, leaders of the Central Government, Vinh Long province and international guests from Laos, Japan, Korea, India, and Cambodia.
Returning to the past 25 years, Associate Professor, Dr. Luong Minh Cu - Principal of the school said that Mekong University, established in 2000, is the first private university in the Mekong Delta.
With a spirit of innovation and responsibility, the school's collective has continuously strived, overcome difficulties, and achieved many outstanding achievements in training and scientific research.
The school is in the Top 100 universities worth studying in Vietnam, meeting the standards for the second cycle of educational quality assessment, owning the largest capacity solar power plant in the university sector nationwide.
In addition, the school was also honored in the Top 10 strong national brands, Top 20 Vietnamese Golden Brands in 2024, Top 10 best universities in Vietnam in 2024.
The school was honored to receive the Third Class Labor Medal of the President of Vietnam (2020), the Third Class Labor Medal of the President of Laos (2023), the Certificate of Merit of the Prime Minister and many other noble awards.

Recognizing his great contributions over the past 25 years, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam awarded the Second Class Labor Medal to Mekong Delta University.
The Lao Ministry of Education and Sports also awarded the title of "Outstanding Development Unit" to the school for its many contributions to human resource training for Laos in the period 2015 - present.
On this occasion, the People's Committee of Vinh Long province awarded certificates of merit to 5 collectives and 10 individuals with outstanding achievements in scientific research, application of technology and development of human resources to serve the local socio-economy.
Mekong University currently trains 38 undergraduate majors, 11 master's majors, 3 primary majors, 4 doctoral majors, with more than 1,200 lecturers and more than 35,000 students, including nearly 1,500 postgraduate students.
Since 2000, the school has granted degrees to more than 38,000 bachelors, engineers and nearly 1,200 masters, many of whom are now leaders, experts, and businessmen at home and abroad.
