The record 73 national cultural costumes in this year’s Miss Vietnam National Pageant were created by talented young designers from many different localities, most of whom are students with a passion for design. Each costume has its own mark, associated with the local cultural characteristics, imbued with Vietnamese identity.
Under the guidance of three designer duos Vu Viet Ha and Van Thanh Cong, Pham Si Toan and Huynh Bao Toan, Nguyen Minh Cong and Tin Thai, the designs are meticulously invested, from delicate embellishments to grandiose sizes and diverse structures.
Some costumes, as soon as they were shown, made the audience in the studio cheer enthusiastically because of the fusion of modern and traditional styles, such as Nam Hai Ngoc Lan performed by Miss Nguyen Tran Khanh Van or Nguu Lang performed by Runner-up Bui Khanh Linh.
Designs inspired by the Mid-Autumn Festival, star lanterns or folk tales like eating star fruit and paying back gold also evoke childhood memories that everyone has experienced at least once.
The stage of Miss Vietnam 2024 is designed magnificently, with a large space, large-scale and sophisticated investment, bringing an impressive performance night.
People's Artist Vuong Duy Bien, as Head Judge, shared: "Through the performance, the creators were inspired by our rich culture. We are proud that our culture has empowered the creations from the mind, into the drawing and from there, into the costumes as they are today."
The competition night is the stage for 60 contestants to demonstrate their performance skills and confident demeanor, creating the best effect for the National Cultural Costume competition.
The program also featured eye-catching performances with the participation of two famous artists. Diva My Linh performed the song “Calligraphy” to open the show. People’s Artist Ta Minh Tam closed the show with “Global Descendants of King Hung” composed by record holder Tran Van Muoi.
The results of the National Cultural Costume competition will be announced in the final night on December 28.
