The event introduced the first footage, and marked an important milestone before the work officially arrived at the audience on November 28, 2025.
Set in Saigon in the 1980s, Quan Ky Nam revolves around the story of the character Khang a young translator who comes to the city to take a new job. In the old residential area, he met Ky Nam, an elderly woman who made a living by cooking for households. From empathy between lonely souls, their friendship gradually grew into an emotional connection, dragging with them secrets and endless stories.
The film is entirely filmed on 35mm film. Director Leon Le said this was a decisive choice because "plast film color always has a profound beauty that digital is unable to meet". He once planned to film in Thailand due to difficulties in equipment, but in the end, he remained steadfast in the setting of Saigon because "the city is like a character in a movie".

At the event, Leon Le shared that "Quan Ky Nam" is a "love letter to Saigon in the 80s", based on childhood memories and a research process that lasted for many years. He also surprisingly revealed that he had found The Second Lien Binh Phat by young actor Tran The Manh, who plays Su.
Lien Binh Phat - the male lead of the film - said that working with Do Thi Hai Yen and the crew was a very stressful but also inspiring experience, especially when filming with plastic film that required high accuracy. The actor shared the most difficult scene was the scene where Khang and Ky Nam stood close together in a kissing scene, when the character's emotions and the actor's real emotions naturally interacted.
Quan Ky Nam also marked the first time cai luong artist Ly Kieu Hanh appeared on the big screen. She expressed her impression of the director's meticulousness, and said that the film truly recreated the life of Saigon in the 80'90s.
With the combination of poetry, music and literature, Quan Ky Nam is expected to be a work rich in emotions, contributing to bringing Vietnamese cinema closer to international audiences.
The film Quan Ky Nam officially premiered on November 28, 2025.
