The work continues to expand the "wild universe" directed by Luu Thanh Luan, after previous projects that attracted attention.
According to folklore, the five-nail pig is a rare deformity, but it is associated with spiritual elements, considered a "spiritless soul" or a bad omen. From this belief, the image of "Ms. Nam Hoi" appears in the religious life of some western regions, creating a material that is both close and haunting for cinema.
The film follows Thien Khai (Vo Tan Phat) - a Tiktoker specializing in exploiting spiritual content. On the journey to find a new topic in Tra Vinh, he accidentally "awakens" to the legend of Co Nam Hoi, leading to a series of strange events. From here, Khai is drawn into the vortex of karma and confronts Chi (Tran Ngoc Vang) - a man who seems exemplary but contains a complex past.

In addition, the family character line contributes to clarifying cultural and belief conflicts. The character Mrs. Thu (Thanh Thuy) represents the generation that preserves traditional beliefs, while Jennifer (Oc Thanh Van) - the Vietnamese-American daughter-in-law expresses a modern, skeptical perspective. This contrast highlights the message: the biggest fear does not come from ghosts, but from the greed and selfishness of humans.
Not only stopping at the horror element, the movie "Heo Nam Mong" also recreates Southern cultural life through rituals such as shadow dance, Apsara dance or Chan dance. These details contribute to creating a mysterious atmosphere, while honoring folk belief values.
According to artist Thanh Thuy's sharing, she said that because the film is filmed overnight, she has to take sleeping pills regularly to adjust her biological hours, needs to sleep early, in order to have enough health to film at night. The female artist also responded to being considered difficult when choosing film roles. She said that she only chooses suitable roles and she will try her best with that role.
