According to information from the film producer of "The Underworld Beauty Salon", the first images of the project quickly attracted attention thanks to the gloomy atmosphere and horror elements associated with the beauty world.
The poster impresses with a reverse camera angle, recording images of Ngoc Trinh lying on the operating table, teary eyes, expressing fear when a scalpel blade is close to her face. This image partly evokes the story of obsessions surrounding appearance intervention - a topic exploited in a gruesome direction.
The "first look" film, less than a minute long, continues to push up the feeling of insecurity as the main character is constantly being pursued by a mysterious force. No longer the familiar sexy image, Ngoc Trinh appears with a bloody face, distraught eyes and many extreme psychological states. Details about the haunting ritual, in which beauty becomes a "sacrifice", initially creating a new color for the Vietnamese horror film genre.
Director Nguyen Huu Hoang said that the character played by Ngoc Trinh is both a "prey" of dark forces and a woman who is forced to find a way to survive in harsh circumstances. He hopes the role will bring a different image compared to what audiences have seen in her.
Ngoc Trinh herself admitted that she had a creepy feeling when watching the first footage again. According to the beauty, when filming, she focused entirely on acting, so she did not fully feel the atmosphere. Only when she watched the complete editing with sound and images, did she clearly see the obsession that the film brought.
The actress also believes that the film's theme raises a thought-provoking question about the obsession with appearance in modern society. As someone working in the entertainment industry, she understands the pressure to maintain a perfect appearance, and this is the material that helps the character become more multi-dimensional.
The selection of Ngoc Trinh for the main role, according to the director, stems from the suitability with the theme. The image of a beautiful woman facing supernatural fear is considered to easily create empathy, while increasing the drama for the story.
The movie "Infernal Beauty Salon" is scheduled to be released in theaters from May 8, 2026, in the context of the horror film genre in Vietnam being developing but also facing pressure of innovation.
