According to playwright Thomas Köck, the topic of housing crises for young people is a common point not only in Vietnam but also around the world. In his hometown of Berlin (Germany), finding a house in the city has made young people search in countless difficulties to stabilize their lives.

This issue was the main catalyst for playwright Thomas Köck to write the play "The Gem" exclusively for the Youth Theater. This is the first stage cooperation project between the Youth Theater and Goethe- Institut Hanoi on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany.

Mr. Oliver Brandt - Director of Hanoi Goethe Institute said that the play "The Pearl author" not only demonstrates the spirit of friendship and cultural cooperation between the two countries but also properly approaches the social issues that young people are facing.
The play will help the audience of the capital have the opportunity to experience an attractive stage work, exploring different aspects of modern urban life.

The focus of "The Pearl" is a familiar story - the journey to find a roof. What started as a competition to own a dreamy apartment gradually revealed the social behaviors shaping contemporary life.
The visual and sound elements combined with the poetic dramatic language and powerful acting of the Tuoi Tre Theater artists will bring the audience a most unique approach to the stage.
There, we will see both the creative language with a strong contemporary style that is prominent on the German stage, and the unique creations of the Youth Youth Theater.
The play directed by artist Dao Duy Anh and stage designer Lina Oanh Nguyen will be a strong testament to the potential ability of the stage to reflect the world in the current context.
Mr. Nguyen Si Tien - Director of the Youth Theater said that the play has been cherished by the Youth Theater for quite a long time with the hope of bringing the audience a different work with a completely new approach to the problem.
Mr. Tien also expressed his confidence that with the cooperation of the Goethe Hanoi Institute, the play "Ngo Thu" will make its mark when it officially plays from September 26 to 28.
