More than 120 artists serve the audience
In April and May, Vietnam National Drama Theatre will develop an art program "March with People", including two plays "The person walking in rubber sandals" and "White Night". These two plays not only aim to celebrate the 50th anniversary of national reunification but also have meaning on the occasion of the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday.
The plays that have made the names of many artists, honored with major awards, will revive the heroic resistance memories of our army and people. The veteran artists Meritorious Artist Kieu Minh Hieu, People's Artist Lam Tung, People's Artist Ta Tuan Minh, Meritorious Artist Trinh Mai Nguyen, Meritorious Artist Dung Nam, Meritorious Artist Mai Huong, Meritorious Artist Khuat Quynh Hoa... participated in the play, on the stage of elaborate staging, recreating the real historical setting.
Talking to the reporter, Meritorious Artist Kieu Minh Hieu - Deputy Director of Vietnam National Drama Theater - affirmed: “Vietnam National Drama Theater has many meaningful activities to promote the development of performance art. We have chosen the most unique plays, in accordance with the theme of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South, the unification of the country. The spirit of work is serious, hoping to be able to bring deep feelings to the audience. ”
With a large number of participating artists, Meritorious Artist Kieu Minh Hieu is still concerned and regretful because the scale of the Vietnam National Drama Theatre stage is still limited and cannot serve more.
sympathizing with the wish of Meritorious Artist Kieu Minh Hieu, People's Artist Xuan Bac - Director of the Department of Performing Arts - said that not only Nhat Kiem Viet Nam but also many artistic units wish to set foot in places considered the "sacred land" of performing arts, to spread the beauty of art.
Artist Xuan Bac confided: Each theater has a different orientation to reach the audience. During this period, art units in Hanoi joined in a spirit of enthusiasm towards the big holiday, organizing art programs to welcome people and tourists to visit the capital. However, we also hope that theaters can bring the program to large domestic theaters and stages, bringing the most outstanding performances to perform across the locality. I hope that with this strategy, performing arts can explode in the years to come".
"March with People"
Regarding the play White Night, this is the work that brought Vietnam National Drama Theatre 1 Gold Medal for the play and 3 Gold Medals for the actor at the 2024 National Drama Festival. White Night was written by the late author Luu Quang Ha and directed by People's Artist Xuan Bac.
People's Artist Xuan Bac recounted: "I re-enacted the White Night script from my perspective on Uncle Ho, about a real event that took place in history. I shared with the actors and play this, I need to have two beliefs. First belief is the character's belief in the words he is saying.
The second belief is the belief of ourselves - the people of today. And indeed, when acting with those beliefs, we have breathed into the audience so that the audience can see Uncle Ho's will, determination, sincerity, rusticity, and warm sharing. All of that happens very naturally.
Meanwhile, The Swallowers depicts part of the space of Vietnamese national history from the perspective of Kateb Yacine - a foreign writer, telling the story of a young man Nguyen Tat Thanh coming to Nguyen Ai Quoc on his journey to find a way to save the country.
The play has no knots, opening buttons, no longer molded into the conventional art framework of space and time; Do not follow the traditional drama rule that is poetry without poetry: The lines of the characters are prose with rhythm. "Caosu slippers" not only praised the image of the great President Ho Chi Minh, but also a chronicle of Vietnam, a school praising the country and people of Vietnam.
