This time, Thu Trang not only took on the director's chair but also took on the role of Hai Men - the eldest sister who suddenly became a pillar after her parents died in an accident, alone carrying the pillowed debts and taking care of her younger siblings. In the teaser, Hai Men continuously fell into deadlocked situations: being forced to sell their house by the creditor, being caught on the knee in the rain, and even being beaten to cry. The highlight was the scene where two creditors Trung Lun and Tien Luat came to demand money right at the funeral, with a shocking line when Tien Luat's character forced Thuong to sell virgin women to pay off the debt.
According to the crew, this is considered one of the "most painful" roles in Thu Trang's career, when more than half of her teaser time was scenes where she had to cry. The character Hai Men plays the role of the whole family, accepting to be hurt to protect his younger sister, putting the love story of a sister as the center of the film's emotions.
In addition, "Who loves who loves" marks Ngoc Thuan's rare return to the big screen after nearly 20 years since "Trai no don". In the film, he plays Uncle Kha - a playful young master of the Western region, initially a creditor who confronts Hai Men but gradually develops feelings for her. From humorous responses, the relationship between Men and Kha gradually transitioned to understanding and sympathy, then became a love story that was both sweet and intensely divided.

Director Thu Trang said that Ngoc Thuan had to go through many rounds of casting, even losing weight quickly to suit his appearance. She chose him because of his "gentle, sympathetic face" and the ability to make a character that is sometimes hateful but still not turned away by the audience. For his part, Ngoc Thuan admitted that he "lived with the character" almost 24/7 throughout the filming period.
Contributing to the depth of the story is the young couple Vo Dien Gia Huy - Tram Anh in the love line Cho - Thuong. The moment of holding hands, the heartfelt proposal of the river boy and Thuong's sad but not weak eyes are expected to bring a pure but endless love.
The teaser also shows the dense atmosphere of the West through the river, death anniversary, cockfighting and the familiar image of rice paper. In that context, Who loves who loves promises to bring a family story tearful love. The film will be released on New Year's Day, January 1, 2026.
