The work quickly rose to the leading box office group on June 10 and grossed about 1.7 billion VND after the first early screening.
In recent days, "Colony" has become one of the most discussed films on film forums. According to records from the Vietnamese box office, the work is currently in the leading revenue group, ranked 2nd in the box office rankings and earned about 1.7 billion VND immediately after opening early screenings.
The film marks the return of director Yeon Sang-ho - who once created a global phenomenon with "Train to Busan". Nearly a decade after the success of the hit zombie work, the Korean filmmaker continues to exploit the zombie theme but in a new direction, combining science fiction and survival elements.
Set in a high-rise building in the center of Seoul blocked after a mysterious epidemic broke out, "Colony" follows a group of survivors trying to escape the dangerous area. The difference lies in the fact that infected creatures are no longer inanimate zombies but continuously evolve, learn and coordinate in herds to hunt humans.
The official trailer of the film once attracted attention when revealing many tense chase scenes in a closed space. The infected creatures are built with high movement speed, continuous adaptability and organized action, creating a feeling of suffocation throughout the work.
Besides the novel content, "Colony" also gathers a cast of prominent Korean actors. Notably, Jun Ji Hyun's return to the big screen after many years of absence. The actress plays biotechNology expert Kwon Se-jeong, who leads the survival group in the survival battle.
Accompanying her are Ji Chang-wook as security officer Choi Hyun-seok and Koo Kyo-hwan as biological doctor Suh Young-chul - a character believed to hold the key to preventing the pandemic but also containing many secrets.
In Korea, the film continuously set impressive revenue milestones and surpassed the 4 million views mark. This achievement helps the work become one of the notable box office phenomena of Korean cinema in 2026.
With a combination of action, horror, science fiction and survival elements, "Colony" is expected to continue to create attraction in the Vietnamese market in the coming days.
Colonia (Colony)" has an early screening from June 10-11 and officially premieres nationwide from June 12, 2026.
