Female singer Ho Phuong Lien - Runner-up of "Bolero Idol 2017" has just released the MV "Sad Rainy Night Without You", composed by musician Lang Lap, set to Hoang Thanh Thuy's poem.
The song was composed by musician Lang Lap many years ago, initially for famous singer Giao Linh to perform. According to the musician, the song has a relatively difficult musical structure, not every singer can easily handle it. Besides technique, the singer needs to have experience to convey the emotional levels in the lyrics.

After many years, Lang Lap made a new version with Ho Phuong Lien. This song is combined with an outdoor MV to further exploit the content and emotions of the song.
For Ho Phuong Lien, this is also a challenge in the recording process. The female singer said that the difficulty is not only in technique but also in how to control emotions. There are sections that need to be expressed softly and emotionally, but there is also a part to push emotions higher.
Actually, this is a rather difficult song for me, just like Mr. Lang Lap shared. The difficulty is not only in the singing technique but also in the way I handle emotions. I have to practice and record quite a few times to find the most suitable way to perform the song," Ho Phuong Lien shared.

According to musician Lang Lap, the female singer also encountered many difficulties in the segments with complex structures. After being guided and discussed more carefully about how to handle each part, Ho Phuong Lien completed the performance.
The MV also marks Ho Phuong Lien's return to outdoor filming after about 6-7 years, since the MV "Phu Tinh", also a composition by musician Lang Lap.
The entire filming process was carried out in about 12 hours, from 4 pm the previous day to 4 am the next morning. The crew continuously filmed scenes in the cold rain. Weather conditions and prolonged working hours created many challenges for the female singer.
It's been quite a long time since I filmed outdoor scenes again, so this time I was a bit nervous and found it very interesting. Standing in real space, immersing myself in the scenery to perform the emotions of the song is also a very different experience compared to filming in a film studio or stage," the female singer said.
After "Dem mua buon khong anh" (Sad Rainy Night Without You), Ho Phuong Lien said she will continue to focus on music, aiming for lyrical songs, Central Vietnamese folk songs, Hue music and songs about her homeland. The female singer also wants to find new ways to express them so that familiar materials have more modern colors and create a new feeling for the audience.
