The program is organized to spread the voluntary blood donation movement and contribute to overcoming the shortage of blood for emergency and treatment at hospitals.
From early morning, thousands of people who are students, pupils and workers in Ho Chi Minh City registered to donate blood and have screening. Many students said that they participated in blood donation with the desire to contribute to sharing difficulties with patients in need of blood transfusion.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Tri Thuc said that blood plays a particularly important role in treatment, especially in cases of injuries and multiple injuries. According to him, the time after the Lunar New Year is often the period when many medical facilities fall into a state of blood shortage. Therefore, community blood donation programs such as Red Sunday are very practical.
To ensure blood sources for treatment, the health sector really needs the joint efforts of the community. Besides blood donation, we also want people to participate in platelet donation and expand the source of donors with rare blood types," he said.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tri Thuc, youth and students are still the core force in the voluntary blood donation movement, playing an important role in spreading the spirit of compassion to the community.
