The event marks an important milestone in AstraZeneca's journey of persistent dedication to improving physical and mental health for future generations of Vietnam, through promoting friendly school health care models and equipping young people with knowledge to prevent non-communicable diseases.
The Vietnam Youth Health Project for the period 2023-2026 is an important part of AstraZeneca's global community investment strategy, aiming to comprehensively protect the 10-24 age group from the increasing burden of common non-communicable diseases such as cancer, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular, respiratory and mental health.
In Vietnam, the project was approved by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and effectively implemented in 29 schools and universities in Hanoi City.
After 3 years of implementation with the coordination of partners and the companionship of AstraZeneca Vietnam, the project has improved the frontline capacity for 700 propagandists; directly approached 61,002 teenagers about risky behaviors leading to non-communicable diseases, 1,644 parents, 60 medical staff, 540 teachers equipped with knowledge and skills, becoming the nucleus to support teenagers; supported the renovation and upgrading of 29 sports spaces and 28 school health rooms.
Recognizing AstraZeneca's great and practical contributions to education and the comprehensive development of the young generation of Vietnam, at the Conference, the Ministry of Education and Training awarded a certificate of merit from the Education sector to the AstraZeneca Vietnam collective. This honor demonstrates the effectiveness of AstraZeneca's solutions and cooperation efforts in promoting school health care.
At the same time, Mr. Atul Tandon - Chairman cum General Director of AstraZeneca Vietnam and Ms. Le Thi Quynh Nhu - Deputy Director of External Relations of AstraZeneca Vietnam were awarded the Medal "For the Cause of Education" to recognize their contributions to educational initiatives and youth development in Vietnam.
