Joining the atmosphere of the National Health Day, a delegation of doctors and nurses from Children's Hospital 2 organized medical examinations, dispensed medicine and presented gifts to 500 children in difficult circumstances in Phu Giao.
The program is implemented according to the plan of the Ministry of Health and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, aiming to strengthen health care for children in areas with many difficulties.
Dr. Trinh Huu Tung - Director of Children's Hospital 2 HCMC said that from early morning, a delegation of 30 people coordinated with local authorities to deploy medical examination work. Children participating in the program were assessed for nutrition, general examination, congenital heart disease screening ultrasound, health consultation and free medicine distribution.
According to BS.CKII Trinh Huu Tung, after receiving instructions from the health sector, the hospital quickly prepared personnel and equipment to implement the program. He said that for nearly 20 years, the hospital has repeatedly organized charity activities in Phu Giao, contributing to supporting health care for local children.
About 70 km from the center of Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Giao is still an area with limited access to specialized medical services. In particular, the rate of congenital heart defects in children ranges from about 0.8–1%, so early screening is considered very necessary. Through the program, suspected cases will be consulted and guided by parents to take their children to higher levels for timely treatment.
Not only medical examination and treatment, the delegation also presented many gifts to disadvantaged children, contributing to encouraging the spirit and spreading community concern. This activity also helps shorten the gap between end-line hospitals and people, creating conditions for children in remote areas to access quality medical services.
The program belongs to a series of activities in response to the National Health Day with the theme "Proactive disease prevention - For a healthy Vietnam", showing the orientation of the health sector in moving from treatment to disease prevention, towards comprehensive and sustainable health care for people.
