On April 15, Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee officially issued a plan for periodic health check-ups and screening for people in the period 2026 - 2030. The main goal is to make proactive health care activities a regular task, taking disease prevention and early detection as the focus.

From 2026, people will be organized for periodic health check-ups or screening check-ups at least once a year according to a roadmap suitable for each target group. The check-up results will be updated into the Electronic Health Record to manage health according to the life cycle.

The province sets a target that by 2030, 100% of children under 24 months old will have periodic health check-ups, screenings, and monitoring; 100% of students will have check-ups at least once a year. All employees in agencies, units, businesses, industrial parks, and export processing zones must also have periodic health check-ups and detect occupational diseases according to regulations.

For workers doing heavy, hazardous, dangerous jobs and other priority groups, health check-ups must be performed at least once every 6 months. In addition, groups of freelance workers, farmers, fishermen, small traders, housewives, people with disabilities, social protection beneficiaries and people under 18 years old who do not go to school are also eligible for organized check-ups according to the roadmap.

Elderly people aged 60 and over are prioritized for periodic health check-ups or screening to detect early non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes.

In 2026, the province will deploy first for children under 24 months old; preschool and general education students; contract workers; officials, civil servants, public employees; armed forces; social protection beneficiaries and the elderly. The 2027 - 2030 period will expand to more students along with freelance labor groups and people who are not yet under centralized management.

Health check-ups are performed at hospitals, general clinics, and qualified health stations announced by the Department of Health. If necessary, mobile check-ups can be organized at schools, businesses, or residential areas to facilitate people accessing services.

The Department of Health is assigned to take the lead in implementing the plan, building a platform for managing people's health, interlinking data with electronic health records of the province and the health sector. At the same time, provide professional guidance, supervise the quality of examinations, summarize results and disease models by target group.

The funding for implementation is guaranteed from the state budget according to decentralization, the Health Insurance Fund, career revenue of units, along with sponsorship sources and other legal sources.

According to the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, organizing periodic health check-ups for people is an important step to shift from treating diseases to proactive health care, improving population quality and reducing pressure on the health system in the future.
