Technology to reshape spinal surgery maps in Vietnam

Hà Lê |

Vietnam is applying robots and modern 3D positioning technology to spinal surgery, opening up a new step in medicine with high accuracy and safety.

At the International Scientific Conference with the theme "Advanced technology in spinal surgery" organized by the University Medical Center Hospital, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (Linh Dam Campus), Prof. Dr. TTND Le Ngoc Thanh - Rector of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi said that spinal surgery in the world has witnessed breakthroughs thanks to the strong intersection with high technology.

Clinical reality shows that complex spinal intervention cases increasingly require absolute accuracy to comprehensively control risks and optimize recovery time for patients. In that context, Vietnamese doctors are also approaching, mastering and promoting the application of new generation surgical technologies in clinical practice.

Also according to Prof. Dr. Le Ngoc Thanh, the problem of the technological gap between treatment levels and how to narrow it right in Vietnam, does not need to wait for expensive foreign training trips. This conference creates opportunities for Vietnamese doctors to directly access advanced equipment systems being applied in the world, but also helps doctors to observe reality, experience and understand more deeply about modern technologies in spinal surgery, something that not everyone had the opportunity to access before, especially when training opportunities abroad were limited.

Currently, the challenge lies not only in technology but also in thinking. In many medical facilities, the pressure of the number of patients makes the investment of time in specialized techniques not fully optimized. Therefore, proactively updating new technologies and transferring techniques from international experts right in the country will help optimize resources, improve the skills of doctors and bring opportunities to access high-quality healthcare at the most reasonable cost for Vietnamese patients.
