A patient over 60 years old in Hanoi was saved spectacularly after suffering from acute than blockage - an extremely dangerous form of stroke, with a mortality rate of over 90% if not intervened promptly.
MSc. Dr. Nguyen Van Thuyen - Emergency Department - Thanh Nhan Hospital (Hanoi) said that before being admitted, the patient went to drink beer and had dizziness, dizziness, and difficulty speaking. When arriving at the hospital, the patient was still conscious and moving normally. However, after only about an hour, the patient suddenly collapsed, became weak in the left side of his body, had difficulty speaking, and had reduced muscle mass to 2/5.
Immediately, the patient underwent a CT scan of the cerebral coronary artery, the results of which determined the acute coronary artery blockage. The patient was given emergency care that night.
In just 1015 minutes, the team successfully removed three large blood clots, completely re- circulating blood to the brain. This is a very severe form of stroke, often causing death or deep coma if not intervened during the golden time. Fortunately, the patient arrived early and was treated promptly, so the recovery results were very good, said MSc. Dr. Nguyen Duy Thinh - Head of the Cardiovascular Intervention Unit, Thanh Nhan Hospital.
After the intervention, the patient was sedated, on a short-term ventilator and fully alert after 24 hours, able to communicate, move, and eat normally. The photoshopped images did not record any bleeding complications or secondary damage, the muscles on both sides have completely recovered, and are continuing to recover the function of speech.
MSc. Dr. Nguyen Van Thuyen warned that in recent days, the number of major stroke cases has increased significantly, especially when the weather in Hanoi has gradually turned cold. Temperature changes can cause sudden cramps and spikes in blood pressure, especially in older adults with underlying cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, smoking or alcohol abuse. People need to pay attention to their health, maintain regular medication and limit alcoholic beverages.
