Doctors at the Transport Hospital have just successfully operated to remove a giant soft tissue tumor in the right shoulder area from patient N.T.H (41 years old, in Khanh Hoa, a chef). This is a complicated case due to a large tumor, developing over many years, causing shoulder deformities and seriously affecting the patient's activities and labor.
The patient said that the shoulder tumor was discovered about 5 years ago. Initially, the tumor was small but gradually grew, causing the shoulders to swell and become unbalanced. Recently, the tumor has developed rapidly, causing pain and limited movement, so the patient decided to go to the Transport Hospital for examination.
After a clinical examination and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), doctors diagnosed the patient with a giant soft tissue tumor in the right shoulder area, requiring early surgery to avoid the risk of muscle compression, blood vessels and nerves.
The surgery was directly directed by Dr. Bui Sy Tuan Anh - Director of the Hospital, Head of the General Surgery Department - and the team of doctors of the Department of Surgery and Anesthesia Resuscitation. The surgery was meticulous, the team separated and removed the entire tumor weighing about 1.5 kg, while preserving the maximum muscle structures, blood vessels and nerves in the shoulder area to maintain motor function.
After surgery, the patient recovered well, the surgical wound was dry, less painful and could move and move his arms normally.
Dr. Bui Sy Tuan Anh shared: Giant software U is a rare disease. If left untreated early, the tumor can compress vital structures, leading to necrosis or loss of limb function. Thanks to the close coordination between specialties, the surgery was successful, ensuring both aesthetic factors and motor functions for the patient.
