From reality, many people have to use medicine for a long time but easily forget the dose, take it on time or are not supervised by relatives in a timely manner, the G69 group of students from FPT University has built a Medibox smart medicine box device applying Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The product is expected to help patients take medicine on time and allow relatives to monitor remotely.

The project started in March 2025 with the initial goal of being an applicable graduation topic. The development process requires students to survey the drug consumption habits of the elderly and chronic patients, design samples, and repeatedly test to adjust directional lights, reminders and synchronous data applications.
Sharing about the origin of the idea, Le Thi Linh - representative of the student group of FPT University - said: "We see the image of grandparents and parents having to take many types of medicine every day, but because of old age and poor memory, they often forget or take them by mistake.
This makes the family always worried, especially the children and grandchildren who work far away and cannot be around often. From there, the group thought of a smart medicine box - both simple and effective - to support taking medicine on time and at the right dosage, and to help their children and grandchildren feel more secure when they can monitor remotely.
According to Linh, the device allows entering prescriptions via the application, recording time by sound and light. If the user forgets to drink, the information will be sent to the relatives' phone as a reminder. These features aim to limit risks in adhering to treatment regimens and help families provide timely support.
"With this device, users only need to enter a prescription into the application, the device will automatically remind with sound and light. Not only that, Medibox also allows children and grandchildren to monitor remotely through the App synchronously: If parents have not taken medicine, the application will report to the phone to promptly remind them" - Linh expressed.
The group representative shared that the device allows the installation of a loved one's voiceover, LED lighting and display to limit confusion, along with the ability to connect IoT to store and synchronize health data. Users do not need to find a drug remedy themselves, can listen to familiar reminders and help their family or doctor remotely monitor their drug use.
In the future, we hope to develop Medibox into a comprehensive health management platform, which can connect with the healthcare, insurance and home care systems, while expanding features to serve more users, Linh said.

The project shows the proactiveness of students in finding solutions to the problem of health care at home. From a starting idea in the classroom, this model opens up a broader application prospect, contributing to the trend of proactive health care in the community.
