According to the Department of Planning and Investment of Can Tho City, in the first 10 months of 2024, it is estimated that 1,495 new businesses were granted business registration with a total registered capital of VND 12,311 billion, reaching 83% of the plan in terms of number of businesses and 94.7% of the plan in terms of capital, an increase of 2.68% in terms of number of businesses and an increase of 20.73% in terms of capital over the same period.
889 enterprises temporarily suspended operations, up 35.73% over the same period; 174 enterprises voluntarily dissolved, down 15.94% over the same period. An estimated total of 370 enterprises returned to operations, up 12.12% over the same period.
Regarding domestic investment attraction (outside industrial parks), in the first 10 months of the year, the city had 4 new projects with registered investment capital of VND727,635 billion; adjusted investment policies for 5 projects and revoked 1 project. Up to now, there are 91 projects approved by the City People's Committee for investment policies that are being implemented, with a total land use area of about 1,910.38 hectares.
Regarding foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction, in the first 10 months of the year, the city granted 3 new projects with registered capital of 622,757.5 USD; increased capital of 1 project with additional capital of 0.36 million USD; terminated 2 projects with registered capital of 12,150,000 USD. Up to now, the city has 81 foreign direct investment projects with total registered investment capital of about 2,219.74 million USD (29 projects in industrial parks, 52 projects outside industrial parks).
In the first 10 months of 2024, Can Tho Export Processing and Industrial Zones attracted 1 new investment project with a total investment capital of 1.18 million USD; adjusted 6 projects, the total adjusted investment capital increased by 21.06 million USD; reduced 1 project not subject to procedures for granting investment registration certificates.
In October 2024, the total revenue of enterprises operating in industrial parks in Can Tho City was 236 million USD, down 5% over the same period. The total number of employees working in Can Tho industrial parks as of October 2024 was 45,252, an increase of 4,865 over the same period in 2023. The number of employees of FDI enterprises was 22,890.
