In early June, the early seaweed harvesting atmosphere is bustling throughout the main growing areas of Thanh Ha district (Hai Duong province). According to statistics from the District People's Committee, on average, farmers in the area harvest more than 1,000 tons of fabric per day, serving domestic export and consumption. The selling price at the garden ranges from 30,000 - 35,000 VND/kg, higher than the same period last year, bringing great joy to fabric growers.
After two consecutive years of declining output due to unfavorable weather, this year, Thanh Ha farmers (Hai Duong province) welcomed a bumper season of seaweed. The total output of the whole district is estimated at about 38,000 tons, of which the early seaweed accounts for about 20,000 tons. The quality of this year's fabric is highly appreciated by traders with fresh, beautiful, even fruits, thin shells, thick bristles, small grains - in accordance with export standards. Thanks to that, consumption has been smooth, and purchasing prices have been stable since the beginning of the crop.
Since the end of May, many Chinese traders have been present in the locality, placing weighing points and purchasing fabric directly in key communes such as Thanh Quang, Vinh Cuong, Thanh Tan. Currently, the whole district has more than 30 fabric weighing points in operation, ensuring good service for purchasing and transportation needs.
In addition, there are 3 stone production facilities and 1 foam box production facility in the area, fully meeting the conditions for packaging and preservation before putting fabric on domestic and foreign markets.
To maintain the reputation of Thanh Ha silk fabric brand, the People's Committee of the district has requested specialized departments to closely coordinate with communes, strengthen inspections of activities at weighing points, prevent price pressure or take advantage of the peak harvest time for profit.
At the same time, the district also strictly controls the mixing of fabric from other places into the area to label Thanh Ha seaweed (Hai Duong province), to avoid affecting the quality and brand of local specialty agricultural products.
