Lak district is known as the famous delicious rice granary of Dak Lak province. According to statistics, the annual rice growing area in the area is about 15,000 hectares, bringing an output of 91,000 - 95,000 tons.
Key rice varieties such as Dai hoa 8, RVT, ST24 and ST25 have affirmed their quality and high economic value.
The People's Committee of Lak district said that there are 29 cooperatives (Cooperatives) in the area. Of which, 17 cooperatives operate in the agricultural sector, the operating models of cooperatives have become increasingly diverse and effective.
There are currently 3 cooperatives producing rice according to VietGAP standards, with a total area of about 154 hectares. To build a rice brand, Lak district has actively supported funding for production linkage models.
Thai Hai Cooperative alone was supported with more than 4.5 billion VND to implement the Project of Building a large model field. This model plans a production area of 200 hectares per year, helping 124 farming households link production and achieve a total output of 3,780 tons of rice.
By the end of 2024, Thai Hai Cooperative has granted VietGAP certification for 81 hectares and their clean rice products have achieved 3-star OCOP certification.
Cooperatives in the area are also pioneers in applying modern technology such as spraying machines, drop- drop irrigation systems and agricultural drying technology.
These technologies not only help increase productivity and output but also optimize processing processes. Thereby saving time and costs, increasing the economic value of agricultural products.
In addition to technical support, the Lak district government also focuses on investing in the construction of inland traffic routes. This not only facilitates the transportation of agricultural products but also helps farmers easily access the market.
Sharing about this joy, Permanent Vice Chairman of Lak District People's Committee Vo Thanh Hue affirmed: "This certification is an important legal basis for cooperatives and farming households producing and trading rice to have the right to use the brand, thereby increasing the value of the product".
In the coming time, Lak district will continue to promote linkages in rice production and consumption, build a capital support mechanism for cooperatives, and focus on investing in infrastructure.
In particular, the locality will create conditions for investors to build rice processing factories, contributing to improving product quality and value.
