On April 19, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment issued a document directing the implementation of support tasks for Lam Dong province in controlling durian quality for export in the 2025 crop year.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment will send affiliated analysis centers, appointed by Vietnam and China, to support Lam Dong in checking the quality of durian products exported in the 2025 crop year.
The unit is also studying the establishment of branches of local analysis units to facilitate sample collection and testing. These branches will operate under a socialization mechanism, serving state management work.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment also assigned the Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development to receive, evaluate and appoint food testing rooms.
To date, a total of 49 testing rooms have been designated. Of which, 15 units tested Oalt Gold and 33 units tested Cadimi in agricultural products.
The list of testing rooms, including testing Cadimi and Oolong Gold in jackfruit and durian, has been widely reported by the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection to owners and packaging facilities nationwide.
The General Administration of Customs has also issued a notice on adding or restoring previously suspended testing rooms.
On April 1, 2025, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection issued a document instructing testing rooms to complete registration documents according to regulations.
The establishment of an analysis branch in Lam Dong will depend on the specific policy of each testing room.
The Ministry recommends that localities instruct packaging facilities and owners to proactively contact testing rooms to agree on the method of taking samples, volume, time and location suitable for the whole crop.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment highly appreciated Lam Dong's initiative in building a testing unit in the locality, and at the same time suggested that the locality choose a qualified unit.
The Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development will guide the unit to improve its capacity, carry out assessment and designation procedures, then send the dossier to the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection for synthesis and submission to the Chinese side for approval.
Regarding the problem of durian infection with Cadimi, the Ministry assigned the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection to preside over and coordinate with localities to determine the cause and remedial measures. Local specialized agencies can contact the Department for specific instructions.
