On July 2nd, implementing the direction of the Vietnam Military-Civilian Medical Association, the Vietnam Institute of Medical Application Research in coordination with the People's Committee of Dat Do commune (HCMC) and accompanying units organized a program of medical examination, health screening, free medicine distribution and gift giving to policy families, people with meritorious services to the revolution, and people in difficult circumstances.
This is a program organized on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the City named after Uncle Ho; towards the 79th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2026), and at the same time implementing Directive No. 17/CT-TTg in 2026 of the Prime Minister on strengthening people's health care, towards the goal of universal health care.
In the program, nearly 500 people in Dat Do commune were given general clinical examinations, blood pressure measurements, cardiovascular and musculoskeletal examinations by a team of doctors; performed screening techniques such as blood sugar tests, electrocardiograms, X-rays and screening for some chronic diseases; provided advice on reasonable nutrition, guided on building a scientific lifestyle, monitoring and managing health at home to proactively prevent and detect diseases early.
At the same time, the program also coordinates with the Hoa Nhan Ai Association of Dien Hong ward (HCMC) and Vietnam Eye Hospital to organize examinations and screenings for eye diseases, especially cataracts, in order to promptly detect cases that require surgery to support free treatment, opening up opportunities to improve vision and improve quality of life, especially for the elderly and vulnerable.
Cases with treatment indications are also given free medicine by the Organizing Committee according to the professional protocol. At the same time, practical gifts are presented to share and encourage policy families, people with meritorious services to the revolution and households in difficult circumstances.
Sharing at the program, Ms. Pham Lan Anh - Chairwoman of the Management Council of the Vietnam Institute of Medical Application Research - said that as a unit directly under the Vietnam Military-Civilian Medical Association, the Institute always identifies research, scientific application and companionship in people's health care as a continuous mission throughout its operations. Implementing Directive 17 and directing the Vietnam Military-Civilian Medical Association, the Institute will continue to promote the implementation of free screening and health consultation programs in localities; contributing to bringing medical services closer to people, especially policy beneficiaries and those in difficult circumstances.
We hope that through practical activities, we will continue to contribute to the cause of caring for, protecting and improving people's health, spreading the spirit of compassion and promoting the good traditions of Military-Civilian medicine in the new situation," Ms. Pham Lan Anh emphasized.
According to the Organizing Committee, this is a practical activity to promote the tradition of "When drinking water, remember the source", strengthen military-civilian solidarity, and contribute to the effective implementation of the Party's guidelines and the State's policies on people's health care and ensuring social security. Through the program, it has contributed to improving the quality of primary health care for people, creating conditions for people to access essential health services right in the locality.
On this occasion, the working delegation of the Vietnam Military-Civilian Medical Association, the Vietnam Institute of Medical Application Research, along with leaders of Dat Do Commune People's Committee and accompanying units came to offer incense and flowers at the Memorial Area of Hero of the People's Armed Forces Vo Thi Sau, expressing deep gratitude for the great contributions and sacrifices of heroic martyrs for the cause of national liberation and defense of the Fatherland.
