From April 27-30, 2025, Hue City will become an international destination when nearly 450 mayors, civil servants and representatives of Francophone cities around the world gather to attend the Francophone Mayors' Conference.
This is an important event not only for the Francophone community but also for the government and people of Hue, the city that is increasingly moving towards a sustainable development model in harmony with nature and preserving heritage values.
This conference is an opportunity for cities to promote dialogue, strengthen international solidarity and share practical solutions to address global challenges.
From heritage conservation, sustainable tourism development to climate change adaptation and mitigation - key contents are all closely linked to people's lives and the future of the planet.
Hue is not a new face in the "big family" of French -speaking cities. Nearly 20 years after the 2007 Congress, Hue once again affirmed the active role in the International Association of French -speaking mayor (AIMF). The city has maintained close cooperation with grammar partners through many practical programs: from improving the inner city environment, establishing a French -speaking student reception center, to the project of sludge fertilizer treatment station - contributing to the development of circulating economic and urban agriculture.

This conference took place at the right time: AIMF celebrated the 45th anniversary of its establishment, 35 years of establishing a cooperation fund and 30 years of becoming a coordination agency of the French community. This is a milestone marking the persistent journey of a network of cities around the world to share the ideal: Action for a fair, developing and sustainable world.
In the context of strong global climate change, the conference in Hue will be the launching place of a new initiative called "Alliance of Francophone Cities for Climate". This initiative demonstrates the strong commitment of local authorities to respond to climate change through specific actions, while calling for policy and financial support so that cities have more resources to implement common goals.
As the host of the National Tourism Year 2025, Hue will also welcome many new opportunities from this conference. The Mayors and experts will discuss in depth about heritage conservation in the context of urbanization and tourism development, opening up new directions for cooperation in sustainable development programs.
Not only a meeting place, Hue - with its ancient beauty and integrated spirit - is showing an increasingly solid position in the international network, where heritage, culture and people together create a green, sustainable and livable future.
