During the April 30th and May 1st holidays, people's travel, sightseeing, and tourism demand increased, leading to great pressure on ensuring traffic order and safety.
Faced with that situation, the Traffic Police Department of An Giang Provincial Police proactively implemented a peak plan with many synchronous solutions, showing high political determination in maintaining traffic order and safety, serving people to travel safely and smoothly.
According to the plan, the peak period will be implemented from April 25 to June 10, 2026, focusing on key routes and areas with large traffic volume such as National Highways 91, 80, 63; central urban roads; festival and tourism areas and key waterway routes.

The overarching goal is to reduce at least 15% of the number of traffic accidents, the number of deaths and injuries due to traffic accidents; not to let particularly serious traffic accidents occur, not to let prolonged traffic jams occur.
With the action motto "propaganda - patrol - control - handling - prevention", the Traffic Police force identifies the general control of two-wheeled vehicles as a key and breakthrough task throughout the peak period. In which, focus on strictly handling acts that are direct causes of traffic accidents such as alcohol concentration violations, speeding, driving in the wrong lane, not complying with traffic lights, not wearing helmets, carrying more people than prescribed...
In particular, functional forces resolutely handle violations with the spirit of "no forbidden zones, no exceptions", linking handling with deterrence, education, and raising people's awareness of law compliance. In parallel, the control of transport business vehicles, handling situations of overloading, extending truck beds, and violations of technical safety regulations is also strengthened, contributing to preventing the risk of accidents.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Truong, Head of the Traffic Police Department of An Giang Provincial Police, said: "In this peak period, the traffic police force throughout the province will mobilize maximum forces and vehicles, organize 24/24 hour patrols and inspections on key routes and areas. We focus on strictly handling violations with the spirit of no forbidden zones, no exceptions. At the same time, strengthen the application of science and technology, surveillance camera systems to detect and handle violations, contributing to improving the effectiveness of ensuring traffic order and safety.
Along with patrol and control work, the Traffic Police Department also promotes propaganda in many diverse forms, suitable for each subject, especially on social networking platforms. Propaganda content focuses on raising people's awareness of the risk of traffic accidents, the harmful effects of using alcohol and beer while driving, thereby forming a sense of self-discipline in complying with the law when participating in traffic.

For waterways, inspection and handling of violations of safety conditions of vehicles, crew members, and passenger and cargo transportation activities are also tightened. Violations such as overloading, not fully equipped with life-saving equipment, and vehicles not ensuring technical safety will be strictly handled according to regulations. In addition, functional forces also proactively review, detect and propose remedies for "black spots", potential traffic accident spots; strengthen the application of technology, promote the effectiveness of the surveillance camera system in detecting and handling violations, contributing to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of State management of traffic order and safety.
