On March 20, Phu My Ward Police (HCMC) said that they had discovered and arrested a wanted subject for the crime of "Sexual intercourse with people from 13 to under 16 years old" who was hiding in the area for investigation and handling.
Previously, from 2023, through playing online games, Pham Van Thoai (born in 1995, residing in Ca Mau province) became acquainted with a girl born in 2008 (residing in Cao Lanh ward, Dong Thap province). After a period of contact, on March 22, 2023, the two met at Dat Set market area, My An Hung B commune, Lap Vo district. Taking advantage of the victim's lack of understanding, the subject committed illegal acts.
After the incident was discovered, on August 18, 2023, functional agencies issued a decision to prosecute Pham Van Thoai for investigation, but the subject did not comply and fled the locality. On December 11, 2023, the subject was wanted by functional agencies.
By professional measures, the Phu My Ward Police force identified and arrested the suspect. Currently, suspect Pham Van Thoai has been transferred to Dong Thap province to serve the investigation.
