On July 3, information from Mr. Le Van Phong - Vice Chairman of My Thuy Commune People's Committee (Quang Tri province) said that local authorities are issuing a notice to find relatives of a newborn baby boy abandoned in the area.
According to initial information, at about 4:45 am on the same day, Ms. Phan Thi Be (born in 1985, residing in Hai Duong village, My Thuy commune) on the way to the market discovered a milky white plastic basket placed on the side of the road, in the area of Phan Ke family gate, Dien An hamlet, Hai Duong village.
Inside the basket was a newborn baby boy about 1 month old, weighing about 4.5kg, along with clothes, diapers, a can of milk and some items for young children.
Notably, in the basket there is a piece of paper believed to be from the mother with the content: "The baby was born on June 2, 2026, due to difficult circumstances, she cannot continue to be raised and hopes the person who picked it up will help take care of the baby".
Immediately after receiving the information, My Thuy Commune Police coordinated with the Commune Health Station to conduct a health check for the baby and make a record according to regulations.
According to Mr. Le Van Phong, the baby boy's health is currently stable. In the immediate future, My Thuy Commune People's Committee will temporarily hand over the baby to Ms. Phan Thi Be's family for care while waiting for verification and searching for parents or relatives.
If the notice deadline expires and no one comes to receive it, My Thuy Commune People's Committee will carry out procedures for birth registration and resolve related issues according to the provisions of law.
